  1. I am trying to uninstall it but it's not listed on add/remove and if I use the "Kaspersky Administration Kit Uninstall" from start>program files I get a quick progress bar window and then it stops and closes. thanks
  2. keith, we made some modifications via the exclusions because it was detecting everything in our network that was valid as bad and also blocking known applications. We disabled anti spam since we have a spam device in the network as well as anti spy and anti hacker. So I think it was mostly an out of box experience with exclusions. I'll check the settings you recommend, but again, I would assume that if the software is malicious in nature that the av software SHOULD block it and prevent it from running. I am no security professional, that's what the software should mostly be doing. frustrated I tell you.
  3. so i gave up on kasp and uninstalled it. installed vipre av and guess what? It found 5 infected items which kasp completely ignored. now I am going to remove it and put kasp back on knowing that I our systems are not fully protected. is it a configuration issue? is it possible to export my settings and someone review them and tell me what are the best practices without completely locking down the computers?
  4. hello everyone, we've had a few computer getting infected with scareware and such over the past 2 months or so. today I am fed up with it. see attached screenshot of the garbage with the version of the kav client installed on this workstation. It has the latest virus definitions as of today. and this computer is at a remote site (NY and I am in FL) and we dont have any tech ppl there that can work on it via safe mode or work on it without being connected to the net.
  5. just as a follow up curve ball...I performed the update on our workstation package and then created a standalone package by right clicking and selecting to create a standalone package. I installed this package on a workstation the date still show 03/12/10. Shouldnt that db upate fix this problem?!?!
  6. Ok, with some poking around I was able to create the install package. repositories - installation packages, then right click on the package that you want to create a package from and select "create standalone installation package", then follow the wizard. Couldnt get any easier than that. Going to test it now on a remote site workstation.
  7. I dont mean to hijack this thread, but I was also looking for a solution to this issue since my new deployments show definitions from March 2010. So by performing the "update database" option via Repositories -> Installation Packages it will update to the current virus definition db but not the entire db because it would increase the deployment to 200+mb? I am confused as to what exactly is the difference. So the client would still need to complete the updating process after it's deployed? Modifying that kpd file would then increase the file size when creating a new install package? Just as an fyi, my current workstation 6.0.4.1424mp4 is currently 93.7mb. That's the total that kak8.0 deploys to workstations? thanks, ceez
  8. Hello everyone. We have two remote sites that house 4 employees in one office and 7 in another. The main office houses the KAK8.0 and controls definition and deployemtn of KAV Workstation 6.0.4.1424. These small ofices are part of our network but use a slow link. I would like to create an pacakge to copy locally to their servers and simply run the exe from their computers remotely instead of pushing through the wire. I went though the tasks for specific computers but only find the regular push install or via logon script. Thank you for the help, ceez
  9. Alright so the problem was obviously a password that was configured on the original AV server. I removed it and made a backup right there and then. Then I copied via thumbdrive to the LIVE server and restored without entering a password....as easy as pie (or as easy as I was expecting it to be). The password must have been set by the person who originally set it up. I am assuming that a way of knowing that KAK is communicating with the workstations/servers is because I see them as last connected to the server with just a few mins ago (1, 2, 3 mins) Thanks for your help!
  10. Yes sir, I am the Admin logged on as Administrator to the domain I dont know why in the world it would say access denied, is it possible to restore via sql manager instead? I was able to restore the administration server certificates only (check box option on the restore or backup window). I am going to bring up the old server (offline) and see if there was a password set for this.
  11. This is what I get in the eventvwr --------------------------- Kaspersky Administration Kit backup and restore --------------------------- Database server returned an error while restoring backup from folder C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.BAGLOBAL\Desktop\klbackup2011-02-22#01-00-01. 12. Alright, so far I my batting avg is 0! I point to my restore point and if I enter the password that used before from the old server it says "Password not correct", dont know if the backup utility requried a separate password (maybe a default); BUT if I leave the password empty I get this nice long error which makes me assume that it's getting farther ahead than if I had no password (my assumption could be wrong): Verifying paths...OK Opening SCM...OK Seting up...OK then the error pops up --------------------------- Kaspersky Administration Kit backup and restore --------------------------- Database server returned an error while restoring backup from folder C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\klbackup2011-02-22#01-00-01. I open MS SQL Managment Studio Express and I see the KAV db listed. I am at a freaking loss <mumbles>I hate kaspersky<mumbles>
  13. ok, I think I jumped the gun with my emotions. when I start the network agent the cpu spikes to 100% and it ranges from 90-100 and makes my HP dl380g4p server crawl like a dial-up connection! (Server 03 Ent, 3gb RAM, Xeon 3.00). But oddly enough after fighting with it for the past 20 mins it goes down to 60-70 and then up to the 90's, weird. Now for the stupid question.... I remember in my previous server that was also running KAK8 I had a task that allowed you to restore from backup, I dont see that here. I've checked under Kaspersky Administration Kit tasks & even creating a new task under Tasks for specific computer. Where is that option?!!?? Or heck, can I do it manually? thanks again for the help but I thought I had this migration under control.
  14. mavila virtual XOXO's to you!!!!! :b_lol1: I had to start the Kasperly Lab Administration Server AND Kaspersky Lab Network Agent and SHAZAM!!! It worked! Now for the restore, that one should be simple.....<crossing fingers> thanks again for the EXTREMELY fast reply! :cb_punk: ceez
