KESS is not blocking installation of Portable Apps

Dear Community

We are attempting to prevent the installation of portable apps on a KESS-protected system, but the application control function is not preventing the installation of portable apps, even though the installation of other kinds of exe or msi applications is successfully prohibited. Both a portable app link is shared and Let me know if there any way to restrict installation of portable apps.

Dear Community

We have a requirements on Kaspersky Embedded System Security for Windows

When Application Control policy is applied:

-- Group policy access should be denied
-- Power-shell disable / no one can access power-shell.
-- Registry & Control Panel access denied
-- Portable application block

*Please share the extension list which will be blocked by KESS (like, .exe, .bat etc)

When Device Control policy is applied: Block all USB drive except keyboard & mouse & SATA drive except preinstalled HDD & DVD (if any).

We want to know are these requirements can be complied by KESS and if complied how can we do that , how can we do the configuration any support articles available.

Optimize KESS from Low end systems (Advices and Solutions)

Problem Statement: If you face lagging of system or too much system resource usage by KESS then do the following from KSC in KESS policy

1. How can I optimize the Kaspersky Embedded Systems Security application so that it takes less system resources?

To optimize the Kaspersky Embedded Systems Security for Windows application to use fewer system resources, you can adjust several settings:

Limit CPU Usage for Scanning Threads :
- Navigate to the Scan settings tab.
- Enable the option Limit CPU usage for scanning threads.
- Set an upper limit (in percent) for CPU usage. This can help reduce the load on the CPU during scanning tasks.
Optimize Disk I/O Usage :
- When running the Database Update task, you can lower the workload on the disk I/O subsystem by storing update files on a virtual drive in RAM.
- In the Disk I/O usage optimization section, specify the amount of RAM to be used for optimization (between 400-9999 MB). The default is 512 MB.
Adjust Number of Working Processes :
- On the Scalability and interface tab, manually set the number of processes for Real-Time Protection and background On-Demand Scan tasks.
- Reducing the number of working processes can decrease resource usage.

2. How to configure it for low CPU usage and disk usage?

Low CPU Usage :
- Go to the Scan settings tab.
- Check the box for Limit CPU usage for scanning threads.
- Set the Upper limit (percent) to a lower value to ensure the application uses less CPU.
Low Disk Usage :
- For the Database Update task, enable Disk I/O usage optimization.
- Specify the RAM used for optimization (MB) to store update files temporarily in RAM, reducing disk I/O operations.

Blocking all apps except trusted apps in KESS

Dear Community

Clients have requested that we block all applications on an embedded system except for trusted applications or applications that are already running.

So, we need help with the following:

-- How to configure trusted applications so that Kaspersky doesn't block them.

-- Share how to configure application control , which will not allow any application to be run except the application which are only trusted.

Please let me know if you are unable to understand the questions.

KESS installation Error

We attempted to install KESS using the command "install kess 3.4" with the option "Protect computer with anti-virus bases" but were unsuccessful and received the error message "A certificate chain could not be built root chain" (see attached screenshot "Installation error kess"). How do I install it without errors?

hi all, sorry to post this in support. i cant seem to find the download page for kess 3.4 installer. for english version.

currently i downloaded the kess from my ksc 14 console, but i need the kess gui console installer as well.

can anyone help? is there like alternate ftp site that has the installer file i need?
