I'm not sure what info to post here relating to this issue, so I'll just describe it for now. Quick scan seems to work fine, but full sccan always freezes around the 30% complete mark and not normally on the same program, since I've deleted a few that I thought were causing it earlier that I did not need. Some info (this is the 2nd computer I have installed this on and the other does not have this issue):

OS: XP Serv. Pack 3
512 M Ram
2.6 GHZ Proc.

Not sure what else to post here, but anything needed I can reply to. I just would like to get this software working properly since I paid a good bit of money for it based on many recommendations.

Thanks in advance for any help,
'Mez

What happens if you: Uncheck the archives option in the full scan settings, reboot and do a new scan?

I don't have that option under any scan settings. Under full scan I have check boxes for:

System Memory
Startup Objects
System Backup Storage
My email
All hard drives
All removable drives
All network drives

I tried to perform full scan on each option individually and had no problems until I scanned all hard drives, then it stalled after 1% for 15 minutes, then again at 30% for over an hour before I had to power off the computer just to reboot (it does this every time I run a full scan with All hard drives checked, seemingly... whether or not I am scanning the drives alone or along with other options). I have run chkdsk without any success with regards to scanning.

In the full scan SETTINGS......................you only looked at the scan options, go into the settings. smile.gif

DUH. Reading Comprehension FTW. I'll check it out and report back about any problems if any arise....

Update:

I unchecked the archive box in the SETTINGS for full scan, rebooted and started another scan. Just like before, scan stalled at 30% in the files where we keep our wedding/honeymoon/all pictures from our digital camera. I stopped the scan, moved the pic from HD to floppy, and restarted scan. Stalled again..... this time insame file, but Thumbs.db. Did some research, found out Tumbs.db is cahce for thumbnails for pics stored on computer. Disabled thumbnails through folder options and deleted all occurrances of thumbs.db on my computer, resumed scan and has been running fine for 8 minutes now and currently at 41%.

After this scan completes, I plan to run a full scan in entirety again to make sure the whole process is OK.

Do you know any conflicts of thumbs.db and kaspersky? Also, should I still leave the archive box unchecked and what, honestly, is the archive setting for and do I need to worry about it?

More to follow.....

Hi , I have exactly the same problem, Kaspersky seems to run fine but upon clicking the full scan tab in the main program its seems to grind to a halt and come up with "Not Responding" quite a bit.
I'm able "just" to run a full scan but it stays at 1% and does not update the information at the bottom, of the files being scanned etc.
I have tried running a repair on the program but no joy.

The dialogue boxes become so slow that I able to get into the settings to remove the archived files from the scan, but no further and I'm unable to uncheck the box.

Well I managed at last to uncheck the archived checkbox, and reboot but I still have the same problem, : when in the full scan tab of the main screen Kaspersky becomes completely unusable it just grinds completely to a halt.

I think I had a slightly different problem in that I had added a network location to scan on my NAS drive within the full scan settings, but I had deleted this folder yesterday. Therefore KS was looking for a non existent folder on my network. I went and created this folder and now KS has jumped into life and seems fine now....

Hello,
since it seems to be locking or freezing up with you some have you tried it like this note what is circled in attached pictures and does it freeze just in full scan?
charlesT
and this i forgot to attach both pictures

I had managed to uncheck the archived files , but the system backup storage in the main window was checked unlike the image and the signature scan of vulnerabilities was checked.

I have just completed a full scan, it really does seem to be the fact that KS was looking for a non existent folder on the network.

Is this a quirk of KS or perhaps a bug?

edit ; I'm using KIS 2009 8.0.0.506

, i had changed mine as shown in the picture i should note that in an just using a single computer so my computer not on a network , yes the vulnerablities are in default mode ,are ticked as the system backup storage to default mode is ticked as well i dont use the windows system restore feature either but i had read in other post others had scan locking up, and suggested they try like that picture showed , mine actually works fine both ways but have like picture just for now either way mine didnt freeze in default mode ,or the way in pics by the way

as far as KIS looking for a non existent folder , i never had that issue on mine happen here using 8.0.0.506 as well, on windows xp pro SP3

Sorry for the delay... been away for a bit. The scan ran fine after completing. I then re-checked the archives box and the scan froze again. Unchecked, it works OK, but remains at 1% for about 20-30 minutes before it jumps to 16-20%, then completes fine. Is this normal? Also... what is it about the archives box being unchecked that matters? Will this affect my system or scans/protection in any way and what exactly does it all mean?

No, it means archives won't be scanned, any malware will be detected on extraction though and no one can stop you from scanning the folder after extracting it....which you should just to be sure. smile.gif

I had the same problem. Freezing at 1% or 13% or wherever. Following this thread, I unchecked the System Backup Storage box but did not go into Settings to the Archives box (because I misread the post!!). The full scan worked fine so I assume that the problem lies somewhere in the System Backup Storage which I understand is where System Restore keeps its files. Will deleting the System Restore files (except the last one) help?
