Hi All
Running KIS 8.0.0.506 with windows XP Home sp3.
Having frustrating problem in that I cannot remove old version of Java (6.7) from my system via controll panel..add and remove programmes. I get the following error message:
Error Applying Transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid....So I tried the Java removal tool link I saw Don post on a earlier thread http://raproducts.org/. Sill it appears in my controll panel as being installed so I clicked on the Java icon that appears in controll panel which used to take me to the Java update page but i got this error message....The system cannot find the registry key specified HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JAVASOFT\JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT\1.6.0-11.
I went to www.java .com and tried to download latest version over old version but Kaspersky blocked download.
Please can anybody help..in simple terms as possible.

Hi download and run javaRa

Hi
Have already tried this and it says has removed... but it is still showing in add/remove programmes.
I have since managed to install latest version of Java by trouble shooting and did a manual install as directed, but now both version 6.7 and new 6.11 version appear in installed programmes.
What worries me is this forum has always made it clear you should remove older programme first.
Will this cause a problem and have you any idea how I can get rid of earlier version once and for all?
Thanks for trying to help.
Lucian Bara
hello
try installing 6.11. does it work? if so uninstall it, after installing it and run java ra again.

Hi Lucian
Installed 6.11 and all works. Uninstalled it and ran java ra again as suggested but still wont uninstall version 6.7.
Here is the report log from java ra

As you can see I have ran programme few times during the day.
Do you have any new suggestions please?

Wayne, when you remove 1.6.11 and use JavaRa.....................have you then also checked if build 07 is actually installed at all..............but perhaps is just shown under add/remove.....that can happen sometimes and in those cases it's just a regkey that needs to be removed and frankly in that case you can just ignore....it's not critical.

Hi Don
Sorry to sound stupid but how would I know if build 6 is working or not. How do I test it specifically?
Don Pelotas
Not if it working....when you had build 1 uninstalled............was there actually anything to find besides the entry under add/remove programs, again this can happen.
wayne spicer
Don't know what you mean when you say was there anything to find besides the entry in add/remove, but just noticed that whilst I still have 6.11 uninstalled..the icon for java in the contoll panel has dissapeared.
Does this mean your theory is correct about registry keys.
Should I try to install latest version again and see if icon comes back in controll panel?
Don Pelotas
Uninstall 11, and run JavaRa..................then check if there is any program actually installed in programfiles etc..............use search in Windows.

Don I think we've cracked it.
When I re installed version 11 the icon appeared back for java within the controll panel with details of the version etc.
Does that make sense now?
Don Pelotas
Sure....did you find any files left of build 7 when you searched?
wayne spicer
NO, didn't appear so. thank you so much for your help and to everyone for input. Job well done as usual.
Thank you.
