Hi guys,

I've had a problem with Kaspersky mutiplying itself 30 times using KAV 6.0.3.837, It is a known problem already by kaspersky and has advised me to put Kav for windows server EE instead.

But now I am having trouble removing this product as it
opens huge numbers of AVP.EXE until all memory is used up - support acknowledge it as a know problem with no known cure - gets worse - can't uninstall it because it is behaving so badly the the system is almost at a standstill.

Temp fix is to start in safe mode, disable all services and rename Kaspersky Folders - now server runs OK but no AV and a chance of destruction in attempting removal!

I have found a removal but stated it will only work for 32bit.

Is there a tool that will work successfully with SBS 2008 (64bit) to uninstall the existing install?

Any help will be good.

Cheers,

Download the Kaspersky Removal Tool here: http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279463

Put it on a USB device or CD. Boot into safe mode on your 08 server. Run the tool, remove KAV for servers.

Once done, reboot, download and install EE for Servers.

would that still work if the site says :

Under 64-bit OS’s the removal utility can uninstall Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 only?

Disregard what the kb says: the removal tool works fine on server 08 (x86 and x64).
