Hello,

We have 10 new HP Proliant Servers with Xeon processors that are running Windows Server 2008 and RAID. I installed the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP2 (build 6.0.2.551) and while the installation went smoothly, the servers are now at a dead crawl and hanging up. I could barely even restart them, so I had to uninstall Kaspersky, and now everything is fine. I downloaded and installed those latest Critical Fixes for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition MP2, but that did not help either sad.gif

Has anyone else had this issue? Please help!

Hello,

Could you explain, what exactly was going wrong? Were there any slowdowns or BSODs?
Were any scan tasks performing when the problem occured? Have you installed any CriticakFixes after the product installation?

Any information will be usefull.

I had this exact same problem and it's because I installed the wrong version of the software.

Make sure you install kav6.0.2.551_fseeen.exe and not kav6.0.3.837_winserven.exe

You'd have thought that "FSE" in the filename would suggest "File Server Edition" and "winserv" would be "Windows Server" but they aren't. If you check your process list you will find that you probably have hundreds of kaspersky processes killing the system.

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, I checked and I did download and installed the kav6.0.2.551_fseeen.exe file sad.gif I'm not sure why I am having all these issues.

Can you check the process list to see if there are loads of kaspersky processes killing the system and what the name is? I think they are around 50mb per process when its killing it and there could be 10-20 of them. Also, do you have "Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange 2007" installed?

Hi.

I just had the same problem. Installed ks6.0.1262.1064_exchangeen.exe (Kaspersky Security Exchange 2007) and then kav6.0.3.837_winserven.exe (Kaspersky AV Windows Server).

After running for about three hours, the server had somewhere upwards of 200 "avp.exe" processes, each taking an average of about 2.5 MB. (Yes, over 200--19 per screen, stopped counting at 10 screens with the scrollbar about halfway through the process list.)

Uninstalled KAV and KSE and all seems to be back to normal, except that the Mailstore service didn't start up by itself after rebooting, even though it was still set to Automatic. Manually started it up again and it's fine.

It's an HP Proliant with 2 Xeon processors.
Operating System: Windows Server 2008.
The only thing on the server besides Exchange 2007 and its management items is Symantec Backup Exec remote Agent.
The server isn't configured as a file server, just mail.

Thoughts?

As already mentioned, you must not install fileserver protection 6.0.3.837 on a windows server 2008. Install the latest version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Server Enterprise Edition (6.0.2.555).
