I am trying to get client pcs to automatically restart themselves after the update task finishes daily. I am on a test network at the moment so I can figure out how to get this resolved before taking it live. Any help on getting this issue resolved would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Helmut
Do you use the AdminKit?

Then you can configure shutdown in the update task under Shedule - Advanced - Turn off computer after task is completed

I am using Admin Kit 6.0. Is there a way to reboot the PC instead of shutting it down or is a shutdown my only option? I am hoping I dont have to have my 200+ clients turn their pcs on by hand daily just so I can keep the AV file updated.

I might be asking for something that can't be done. Any information on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

You can only shut down.

Why are you rebooting after an update any way? And what is the big deal about making people turn on their computers. I have ~300 workstations and I'm having trouble getting people to turn them off at the end of the day. I mean, it's very expensive to have PC's running 24/7, so the approach that I've done in my corp. is to promote cost savings by forcing PC's to turn off. You might also want to re-think your daily update plan, considering Kaspersky has updates about every hour and recommends at least a 3 hours update period for PC's in order to ensure proper protection against new threats.

In any case, you could shut down the PC, and then use a WOL option to turn them all back on at a certain time. But you shouldn't have to restart the computer after an update.

I have a much easier solution for you :

- Create a .bat file with the following command inside : 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -r'
- In Remote Install add a new installation package using an executable file and choose your batch
- Create a group task : add -> Admin Kit -> Product deployment task -> choose your package to deploy -> deployment using Network agent ONLY : uncheck both other options -> schedule : 20 mins after your update starts...

-> You're done, your task will run every evening 20 mins after your update task and will force a reboot on all the members of the group and subgroups where your task is.

Cheers,

Alexis
