I have a dual quad-core x64 server running ( not by my choice ) Windows Server 2008. It's a terminal server with 95 thin clients. We purchased KAV Enterprise Edition. However, the confirmation email had the wrong download link in it, and I ended up downloading and installing normal Windows Server edition. My license said it was for the wrong version, so I uninstalled, reboot, and then tried to download and install Enterprise Edition.

I get an error message from windows saying " " stopped working, microsoft is looking for a solution. At first it said Data Executrion Prevention shut it down, but I turned that off, and it still does it.

There are a few entries in the event viewer, mainly claiming the crash originated in AcGenral.dll. I've searched around and see that certain Kaspersky products have had problems with that file from time to time, but can't find anything to fix this.

Does anyone have any idea on this?

Dear HowieSEB,

in a short, normal Fileserver is not supported on Windows Server 2008!

All you need is here:

Kind of scary...when I got back to the office this morning, booted up the laptop, the saved tabs in firefox had a search in google for "acgenral.dll kaspersky enterprise" from before I posted yesterday. When it reloaded this morning, I found this post at the top of the list already.

However, that is the exact file I already have in the link you posted. I'll re-download and attempt to install again and let you know how it goes.

And what do you mean normal fileserver is not supported in windows server 2008? Is there a link to information about that somewhere?
HowieSEB
Actually, you're right, that's a different enterprise edition...that file is 128mb, the one I had was 74 mb.

...Even though they have the exact same file name...

What's the difference?
HowieSEB
Thanks, that completely solved the problem. I do not know what the difference between the 2 version are, as they have the exact same file name but different filesizes, but it worked just fine.
