Hi,

We use Windows Server 2008 on our computers as a workstation. This windows version is more stable and faster then vista, but stil the same core.

We are trying to install KAV 2009 on these workstations but get the message "OS not supported".

Is there a way to install KAV 2009 (not the server version) on Windows server 2008?

Not.

KAV 2009 it´s a home users product (Windows Xp, Vista, ..) Not support Server OS.

The option for Windows Server 2008 it´s Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Server Enterprise Edition.

Since when are KAV, XP and Vista home-user products?

Why using a enterprise anti-virus edition on a workstation? Besides the price there is use amount of overhead.

Server 2008 is very much likely to vista. All client-software except for KAV2009, is working on it.
There is a fast growing group of server2008-as-a-workstation-users. Simply because this OS is the OS that vista should have been.

The problem probably is just a little OS-check in the installation procedure.

I just hoped for a more constructive answer. Not a big brother reply.
Nothing we do is illegal. It's fully legitimate to use server2008 this way.

We are talking about implementing a anti-virus solution for a 200 workstation(all server 2008) plant.
If KAV is not able to supply a descent client we'll move to another. We have tested others that are working fine.
KAV is our 1st choice but we will not have our choice for OS be made by the availability of a AV-client.

I thought a forum was used to supply help for exceptional situations.

nothing you do is illegal
it's just an attempt to run the application on an unsupported platform

KIS and KAV 2009 are the home user products, the complete list of supported platforms is enlisted in the manual and release notes document
it's a marketing decision
no way to run KAV 2009 on Windows Server platforms. point
