Full Version: Controlling the location of file backups

Hi,

I am currently evaluating Kaspersky® Business Space Security suite.

My machine park includes the following: a Windows 2003 EE Server, a Windows Vista workstation, a couple of Linux servers and three XP laptops that need protection.

I have the Windows server currently running it's first full scan and it has detected an infection of a virus and quite a few files are infected.
During the scan (which now is at 50%) the system is running low on disk space on the system partition and this is having a significant negative effect on performance.

Since the start of the scan Kaspersky have consumed ~4GB of space. I realize that a lot of this is due to the fact that infected files are backed up, which is fine.

However, I do need a way to control where these backups are saved since they currently go in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP6\Backup which is on the system partition.

So, how do I make Kaspersky save it's Application Data somewhere else?

Thanks,
/Patrik

Hi,

Disable Self-Defense option (Settings > Service > untick "enable self-defense")
Click on Start > Run > enter "regedit"
Modify the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\AVP6\environment\DataRoot " and enter the new location for application datas.

Tybilly, thanks for responding.
I did what you said, but also had to copy the old files to the new location and reboot to be able to run Kaspersky again.

I am running a full scan again and so far it seems to be working. I'll report back if it doesn't.

Once again thanks!
