Sandy,

I'm having the same problem except I only have the theme panel showing. I'm running windows XP Pro on a LENOVO T-61 laptop. I've been trying to resolve this for several weeks now without success. So, yesterday I re-installed the whole system back to how it came from the factory. And, I spent the entire day re-installing all my applications. At the end of the day I decided to run the full Kaspersky Virus scan before I created a backup of the entire hard drive. I think I should of backed up then before the scan. Now I'm back to the missing tabs in my display properties panel again. What a let down. . .

Apparently there were three files that Kasperky found to be problems after it's initial installation in the morning. See first few lines of the report that it generated here:

10/18/2008 7:32:10 AM You are advised to perform a full computer scan as soon as possible.
10/18/2008 7:32:10 AM Protection of your computer is enabled.
10/18/2008 7:32:40 AM Process C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe (PID: 3880): attempt to perform suspicious actions allowed.
10/18/2008 7:32:42 AM Process C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe (PID: 4008): attempt to perform suspicious actions allowed.
10/18/2008 7:32:43 AM Process C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY\TPOSDSVC.exe (PID: 4028): attempt to perform suspicious actions allowed.
10/18/2008 7:32:49 AM Process C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe (PID: 3196): attempt to perform suspicious actions allowed.
10/18/2008 7:32:50 AM Process C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe (PID: 3196): attempt to perform suspicious actions allowed.
10/18/2008 7:50:23 AM Process (PID 3196) tried to access Kaspersky Anti-Virus process (PID 1448), but the action has been blocked by the Self-Defense component. No action on your part is required.

In the evening, after finding those (3) files, I decided to delete them after running the full Kaspersky computer scan instead of quarantine them. I guess maybe I should of quarantined them in case I needed them which appears may be the case? Here is what files were detected:

detected: riskware Invader (loader) Running process: C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe
detected: riskware Invader (loader) Running process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe
detected: riskware Invader (loader) Running process: C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY\TPOSDSVC.exe

Hope I don't have to re-install my system again. And, I hope someone can help us in this forum to determine what the problem is and how to fix it.

Good luck,
Chris
