Trying to install Kaspersky Antivirus Workstation 6.0.3.837. The installation states that it completes but when I select the next button the installation disappears. If I reboot and select the Kaspersky Icon nothing happens. The Kaspersky service will not start. I get a 1053 error. There are no other antivirus/spyware programs installed. OS is XP Pro with SP2. Have tried the uninstall program and registry cleaner. Still same results. Any ideas?

Did you install as administrator or as user with admin rights?

Run this tool and post the result here.

I am logged in as administrator. And have tried to complete the installation as the user (who has admin rights) with the same results.

The sysinfo file is attached. THANKS

ActiveClean from TrendMicro
F-Secure GateLauncher

Please uninstall thissoftware.

Both of those programs were used as online scanners. I found some utilities to remove any files left behind. Removed Kaspersky and ran the Kaspersky cleanup utilities and also ccleaner. Tried to install again. The installation still fails. After a reboot the screen poped up to enter the license info. But closed after a few seconds.

Attached is a new sysinfo file.

One question....should I use something else to remove the unwanted files? (Not in add/remove programs)

Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

Dear friend,
you must delete files in following..
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\tmcomm.sys ( Trend Micro Inc. )
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysrest.sys ( maybe virus )

and delete registry value in following..
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Services\sysrest.sys
HKLM\System\ControlSet002\Services\sysrest.sys
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Services\tmcomm
HKLM\System\ControlSet002\Services\tmcomm
also recommend you download Trend Micro Anti-Virus uninstall tools and runing to do.
Please answer me problem solve or not,
Best Regards

I have tried everything to get the install to complete but could not get past the license screen. Finally I loaded Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - September 2008 (KB890830) during Updates and the Kaspersky install program popped up and let me complete the installation. All working Now.
