Full Version: Corrupt block.lst Anti-Spam

I started getting messages that my KAV Anti-Spam had a corrupt black.lst. After reading some messages here, I uninstalled my entire KAV Security Suite and reinstalled the latest version. Now I get a message from Anti-Hacker saying "Error loading IDS driver" and from Anti-Virus Personal saying "Error while starting the service portion of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal. You are advised to reinstall the application." I have done this several times, to no avail, and running regclean did not help. Ironically, the Anti-Spam now seems to be working.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Hi Don. I used Microsoft's regclean, v4.1a.

Try to donwload a fresh copy of the suite plus, KAV_Registry_Clean.zip & regsupreme.

1. Unstall the suite and reboot.

2. Delete the the Kaspersky folders in "Program files" & in "Documents and Settings" > "All Users" > "Application Data" > "Kaspersky Anti-virus Personal"

To be able to see "Application Data", you have to open "Explorer", go to "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "View" and check "Show hidden files and folders", click "Apply" and "Ok".

3. Run KAV_Registry_Clean.zip.

4. Run regsupreme in it's normalmode and fix what it finds.

5. Install the suite again.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and it did not work--I still get the same errors. My suspicion is that one of the other security programs I installed after I initially installed Kaspersky has changed a security setting. To test this, I tried installing Zone Alarm and it did not work either, with the True Vector service refusing to start. If I had to pick a leading suspect, it would be Pivx's PreEmpt, which I use as a Windows hardener, but I also use DiamondCS's TDS3, Process Guard and Worm Guard.

Until I figure this out, I've taken the machine off the Internet, so it's an inconvenience but not a threat.

Ah, you have to disable Process Guard when installing something and then run in learning mode after installing Kaspersky again.

If everything fails then try to uninstall both Pivx's PreEmpt and PG after disabling their services and reboot, then in Kaspersky.

Btw. I have had to uninstall PG myself for good this time because it always messes up my pc after a while and this has persisted through all builds, it's a shame because i like it, but are trying the beta of AppDefend ATM it seems like a nice program in the same mould and is also made by Jason Annis who was working on PG before setting up his own shop. smile.gif

Don,

Your thoughts on this:

Particularly Prevx and WinPatrol. I am thinking of evaluating a couple of them in the near future.

TIA,

If it was me then i would try PrevX or RegRun, PrevX never agreed with my system when trying it though some time ago and the "free" version is now the beta program.....RegRun is a nice suite, but it is not free of course and if it was me i would this one of the tools in the link, because if i remember correctly you already use Process Guard? smile.gif

I haven' t used any of them, yet. I had a discussion with Bill Pytlovany, WinPatrol's developer, a while back, and so I want to evaluate WP for sure. I am not sure about that damned dog, though. I hope it is not as annoying as the MS dog, one of the first things to go with a fresh install of XP. And I love dogs. I bought my wife two puppies for Christmas, and haven't a full night's sleep since. laugh.gif

I planned on playing with the freeware apps first, and then go from there. It's like I tell people with respect to AS apps. Download Spybot S&D, AdAware and MSAS, all freeware, and after you get a feel for what you want, decide whether you want to shell out some dough for a full-featured AS app.

BTW, my discussion with Bill Pytlovany started over Spyware Guard. He and many others, all fans of Spyware Blaster, are in agreement with you. It is time for Spyware Guard to be rewritten and or otherwise upgraded, or it is time for it to be abandoned.

Hello, my first time here.
I am having a problem with corrupted Black.lst file with the KAS program and can't even uninstall the KAnti Spam program. I downloaded Kaspersky Suite Trial version and everything ran perfect for a few weeks until I got the corrupted file. How do I uninstall KAS?

In order to have a Anti Spam program running I am now using SpamBayes.

KAnti Hacker and KAV is still running well and I will need to purchase the key soon (just purchased KAV for my wifes machine). So far I really like KAV & KAH.

Running a fresh format & Win2k SP4
No other AV programs installed
CC cleaner
Spybot

Thanks for any assistance you can provide as I have sent 4 emails to support to no avail

Bill
