Full Version: Ad Muncher

I think Kaspersky Lab should concentrate on other aspects of protection instead of adblocking with the integrated Banner Ad Blocker. Ad Muncher should replace it. I talked to one of the developers and asked him what he thought about Kaspersky's Banner Ad Blocker and he told me it's crap. The Ad Muncher team has over 9 years of experience in adblocking and pop-up removing so it could be an idea to let them take over in that area! I'm an Ad Muncher user myself and I can tell you that they have no competition! smile.gif

Taken from http://www.admuncher.com/:

Blocks ads in all browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Flock, Netscape, Maxthon and Avant Browser.

Kills unwanted popups in all browsers.

Removes advertising in programs like Pando, SopCast, ICQ, Morpheus, Kazaa, PalTalk, iMesh, Bearshare, LimeWire, Yahoo! Music Jukebox, TVAnts and more.

Speeds up page loading and saves bandwidth, thanks to the missing ads and pop up windows.

Prevents annoying site behaviors.

Works immediately out of the box, thanks to the most extensive ad blocking list available.

Filters quickly and reliably, thanks to nine years of constant development and feedback from users.

Protects your privacy by blocking common third-party tracking systems.

Blocks rich media advertising like video ads, interstitial ads and floating ads.

Blocks many spyware, adware and dialer installers.

Uhh... isn't this just a commercial for ad muncher?

It's good but a) KIS adblocker works fine

B ) I dont think the AM devs will want to integrate their adblocker into other software

c) even if it did happen, users would have to pay a premium because of the extra fees.

It's a security suite...if someone wants an uber ad blocker that offers more customisation than anti banner then they will go and buy one seperately.

a.) A better adblocker would increase popularity.
b.) They would be very happy to! I've talked to them. They're planning to integrate Ad Muncher into firewalls like Comodo, ZoneAlarm and Outpost.
c.) Maybe a few dollars. No big thing.

A noticeably better adblocker and pop-up remover would increase protection. wink.gif

I think it has been suggested before during early v8 beta... they did say they may look into the possibility but at the moment an adblocker is not the priority.

Its a nice little software, and I know that myself and some other forum members use it too.

Hmm just thought to say aomething...

3 of my friends bought KIS last year... and one strong factor that made them purchase KIS was its Ads Blocking feature smile.gif

But something on my mind... Ive noticed initially KIS used to block ads completely... You would never know there was an ad in a web page unless i was told by someone about the existence of those ads blink.gif But few months ago, i dont know why, but ads were not being blocked so well... at times they were blocked but it showed a white space in the ad space... Did they change anything? KIS 7(125) was good...

edit.. excuse me for all the spelling mistakes..eeks

4xx betas of v2009 are going to rewamp the format for Anti-Banner. I personally also like Admuncher, but as far as integreation goes thats a bit overboard.

I love and use Admuncher as well, there no doubt it is the best around, but if it weren't bcause i have used it since a long time before anti-banner was included in KIS, then i'm not so sure i would use Admuncher.................it has it's disadvanteges as well like some websites being unreachable until you exit Admuncher......this happens with or without KIS installed and putting the site in the bypass list in Admuncher have no effect.

So for most normal users i think the integration which is the plus working in anti-banners favor....makes it as good a choice even if there are certain sites where Admuncher is simply better. Lets not forget that AB is very young and it will be improved over time.

I used to be an admuncher user too. But in that time it was working as a proxy and tunneling every trafic through there services. Because of this most firewalls of that time had problems blocking leaktests. Is this still the case? Its a long time ago but if i remember it good it also had something to do with local loopback.

This is not the case any longer. tongue.gif

Hello,
I am very 'satisfied' with KasperskyIS' Anti-Banner and Parental Control because both work fine with Internet Explorer, Avant Browser, Maxthon Browser, Opera Browser, Acoo Browser. All the addresses or filter words in the Black List will be blocked with tose
browsers AND Windows Live Messenger's WINDOW-advertisements (atdmt.com).
I will use (for an obnoxious-FREE surfing!) KasperskyIS as longer as it supports
Anti-Banner and Parental Control.
And I have no ideas what AdMuncher is...
Greetings, AtomBombe
