Open antiVirus main window and check what exactly component failed.
Tell what exactly version of antivirus you use.
Open "Reports\ Protection \ Events" in the antivirus Main window and check any Error and Warning messges.

I'm having the same problem and thre doesn't seem to be a single thread solving the problem anywhere! I just installed v 6.0.3.837 on the Windows 7 RC and I get the error message that says "some protection components failed to start." When I check which components aren't running, it says that bothe the File Anti-Virus and the Anti-Hacker systems arn't running. I already tried repairing the install through the add/remove programs portion in control panel. I'm running an ASUS Eee PC Netbook with 2 gigs of RAM and an Intel Ato N280 CPU clocked at 1.66GHz. Like I said, I have Windows 7 RC installed.

Windows 7 RC isn't supported with 6.0.3.837. You'll have to install the Technical Preview from here: http://www.kaspersky.com/windows7
