Ok I'm pissed, REALLY ANGRY!

I'm living on the U.S. of A soil, but I'm using a european based, encrypted VPN tunnel, utilizing OPEN-DNS (lets say, i dont trust neither my government nor my american ISP) to use the Internet.

It came to my attention that, Kaspersky Labs makes - based on originating IP no doubt - regional product-access filtering.

Why in the frakking world are U.S. based customers barred from KIS 2009, and get instead still the KIS v7 webpages and download links, but europeans get to enjoy KIS 2009 (v8)?

dont believe me? take a close look at the screen snapshots attached to this post. You may noticed that it IS actually the SAME webaddress used.

so, again, WHY the regionally differentiation ?

Hello,

Because rolling out KAV/KIS 2009 across the world in one go would

1) Overwhelm the support offices

2) Screw up marketting/sales tactics for each region

3) Probably bring the download servers to their knees

In case you didn't know, it has been done like this for a number of years with each regional office deciding when each new version is made available.
To highlight this fact, V2009 is not available in Russia until the end of August, in the UK until July etc so the USA is not the only one who has yet to have it released.

Those are the home user products btw, nothing to do with the SMB protection components.

Perfectly normal, and nothing sinister at all.
