Okay people. Now I know there are documents out there, but I want to do it right. We tried the trial version of Workstation and eventually got a great deal on your product for competitive upgrade at CDW.com. Now we are Ready to deploy the Software. Or are we?

I downloaded the admin kit and now received an email that came with 3 keys. What do I do with them.

Lic. Count Lic. Obj. Application Name

2 SVR KAV for FileServer (V5.0)

37 Em Suite for Mail Servers

25 Node KAV for Workstation (V5.0/6.0) + FileServer (V6.0)

A key corresponds to each type. What do I do with the keys and what do I need to download to get it all going?

We have Windows SBS 2003 on one server and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 on another server.

Should we install the admin kit on the SBS 2003 and install the Mail Server on the other server?

Do we have to download File Server, Mail Server, Workstations on each 23 comptuers and the admin kit.

Some one please break it down nicely for us. we want to be centrally managed.

No one will help me? icon20.gif Well here is another question. Can I install the admin kit on my personal workstation and act like the host and then add a client. We want to test the setup first and then incorporate it into the servers. we cant afford them being down for a long time. Is it ok to install and uninstall and install again? we have a 2 year license agreement.

Install the Admin Kit on either of the servers, the one with the least workload is best. Install the client to manage the Admin on your workstation if you like or use RDP client from your workstation to the server and manage it there.

You really need to read the Admin kit guide ->"kasp6.0_adminkitgsen.pdf" It contains the information you seek. :-)

The license file/s go in the distribution/shared folder created during the Admin kit installation. When you add a package to distribute via this share you will place the license file in the appropriate folder be it the workstation, file server or email. In my case the folder paths were this because I chose D: drive for the packages.

D:\kav\WinServers\english <- license file for server in here
D:\kav\WinWorkstation\english < - license file for workstations in here

The only problem I had with the Admin kit documention is for setting up and testing update deployment to clients. Document is not clear and may reflect version 5 of Admin kit, but still it was not hard to figure out. The rest of the Admin kit documentation is well done.

You cannot deploy Kav4Exchange with the AdminKit. You must install this product locally.

You need the key for server V5.x only if you use this version.
You can use the third key for both workstation and server.

Thanks for are your help guys.

I have it all installed except for the mail server.

I have 37 mailboxes I can use. Now, I dont know what to download. Should I get Kaspersky Antivirus for Exchange Server 2000/2003 or Security for Exchange Server 2003

We have Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, but we are not sure if we should use Security or Antivirus, or can we use both with the one key?

Kaspersky Security for Exchange gives you the AntiSpam protection in addition.
You can turn on/off the AntiSpam funcionality if you want. wink.gif
