I am trying to upgrade from Anti-Virus 7 to Internet Security 7. I use Microsoft's FolderShare to synchronize the computers in my office and never had a problem with the Anti-Virus 7 before I did the upgrade. The problems are:
. . (1) My computer slows WAY down when FolderShare is running and Internet Security's "File Anti-Virus" protection is on.
. . (2) Also, FolderShare does not work when "File Anti-Virus" is running.
. . (3) If I disable "File Anti-Virus", system speed is fine and FolderShare works perfectly as before.
. . (4) Alternatively, if I turn off FolderShare, and turn on "File Anti-Virus", system speed is fine.

It's only when both are running that I have a problem.

Is there any way to tweak the "File Anti-Virus" setting so it won't conflict with other applications?

I would like to use the full Kaspersky suite because I have been very happy with the Kaspersky Anti-Virus product, but can't afford to have this conflict slowing down my whole system and I can't do without FolderShare. Any suggestions?

Note: FolderShare shows that it is "firewalled" even when running perfectly (i.e., with File Anti-Virus off), and continues to show that message even when I disable the Internet Security firewall function. I have opened up the local ports used by FolderShare in the firewall but this does not seem to have any effect on the four symptoms described above.

Did you uninstall the AV 7 before upgrading??

Yes. Funny thing was, I had upgraded to AV7 from AV6 several months ago, but the installation program told me I had to uninstall AV6 (not 7) before upgrading. The registry showed evidence of both and I uninstalled everything before doing the upgrade.

hi,
you can try to add FolderShare to the list of trusted applications.....or to switch on "Compatibility Mode" feature...maybe FolderShare has some self-protection capabilities...smile.gif

well,that is a common thing...

if i understood well you´re using kas7 on network right?when you "regedited" i assume you erased the anchient entries right?
kas takes sometime a litle bit of time and i love it cause it means that every single thing is beiing analised at the detail that you specified in your configuration of our "best friend" there´s somo option like compatibility list and trusted app´s that you can model to your own needs that will cause kas7 to skip or not to analyse so deep a program or files...it´s extremely configurable to adapt the needs who ones who use it for diferent purposes.

stay well

The compatibity mode change seems to be mostly working (I had already added Foldershare into the listed applications rules for the firewall) ... I had a big slow-down at reboot while Kaspersky was skanning the startup objects, but once that initial scan completed, performance seems to be better with both File AV and FolderShare working simultaneously. However, I am getting sluggish keyboard response writing this post (i.e., keying ahead and not seeing characters appear on screen until after a delay) . . . will see if the same thing continues with other applications.

Regarding the registry edit to get rid of AV6 (winvlin post), regedit would not allow me to delete the "Legacy" keys and a few others, but it did allow me to delete all the active Kaspersky/AVP/KAV-related keys. And that was enough that I could install KIS 7.

Unfortunately the sluggishness continues with Foldershare running and goes away when I turn it off. Any other ideas on how to avoid this (as I mentioned above, the problem did not occur previously with just AV7 running)?

i was not talking about "applications rules for the firewall" rather than to "Trusted Applications" (Settings/Protection/Trusted Zone/Trusted applications)....smile.gif
Following your descriptions, IMHO you might have some potential incompatible softwares on your machine...could you pls post a syslog?
Thx
