Hello

I have KIS 7.0 installed and occasionally after a reboot it will not install to the system tray. Windows Security Centre says it is not turned on but when I try to nothing happens. I have removed KIS using the remove tool and re-installed but still no luck.

I did have PC Tools Spydoctor but removed it but I notice that Windows Security Centre thinks it is still there and swtiched on.

Any ideas?

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Pentium 4 with 3.20Ghz and 2Gb RAM.

Thanks in advance and apologies if this problem has already been covered.

If kaspersky is working, that's a windows security center error.

Then you can choose to go into windows security center and change the mode of users advice to get rid of that annoying popup.

Otherwise try what suggested in this topic

yes, do as epr 35 said. but first use a good registry cleaner.

Thanks to ronpezz and EPR35.

Tried all those thing and still no luck. KIS is installed but will not load to the system tray and it happens when I do routine re-boots.

Tried various 'free' registry cleaners but does not seem to have made any difference.

Windows Security Centre still thinks that PC Tools Spy Doctor is installed when it is not.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Yes. Please provide background information as indicated here: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=915 Also, please create GSI log, upload it to the parser site and post link to GSI Report which may identify conflict area: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=36444 Previous Anti-Viruses? See: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=5233

Thanks Richbuff - very helpful and easy to follow links (even for me).

I have submitted my report and the URL is:

http://gsi.kaspersky.fr/lire.php?hl=en&...5abfbc3de9b#Top

You will see it has identified Windows OneCare (sic) which I had uninstalled as it was useless.

I will wait to see what the response is to my Parser report but grateful for any immediate observations you have.

Thanks again.

John

If KIS is still not loading in the system tray, then try an uninstall and reinstall: uninstall saving only activation data, reboot, reinstall-reboot. It may be helpful to temporarily remove some variables by also uninstalling System Mechanic prior to re-install of KIS. Also, when reinstalled, enable Compatibility mode in Settings-Protection-ok-reboot may be indicated too.

I tried this fix in XP but it does not work with version 325, the security center randomly recognises kaspersky, this did not occur in version 125 at all, so I have just ticked I monitor my own av product and that works fine.
