We are trying to use Kaspersky on our Windows clients for protecting them against viruses. The problem is that when we install the Kaspersky Admin system on a central node it tries to query the Samba domain but just causes our main Samba PDC to sky-high CPU utilisation. Seems to be a problem with the Admin kit not being able to properly interact with a Samba server. Maybe it can only work with Microsoft AD?

We are running about 150 clients: 70 on Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (Gutsy) and 80 on Windows XP Pro. Want to deploy Kaspersky protection to the 80 and a few servers. The Samba server is running off Ubuntu Linux 7.04 (Feisty) with the standard Samba from the Ubuntu repositories.

The problem happens when the Admin system tries to scan the domain.

Hello,

Kaspersky Administration Kit is using several methods to discover hosts over the LAN.

Also it is possible to disable this functionnality, you should have a look at this FAQ.

Once your deployment is finished, I think you can disable this network scan.
