Full Version: Outlook (IMAP) Freezes KAV 6 Win XP

I've submitted a work order on this already but am interested in hearing reactions from others in the forum. I purchased 200 licenses last week and have been busily rolling out KAV 6 Business Workspace for my Win XP users. I first uninstalled Symantec Corp from the workstations and then installed KAV 6. After running into several problems with the KAV firewall and in the interests of getting some kind of AV solution out there, I began installing only the AV portion.
Now, when users open Outlook (any version) and click on an email, the email client freezes up. I can only get it running after using task manager to kill Outlook and Winword, shutoff Email Scanning in the KAV client, and restarting Outlook. This leaves me now without an effective solution for email scanning. I've sent in a couple of sysinfo files to support but judging from the updates problems reported, they're probably swamped. Should I be sorry I bought this?

I'm on 7.0.0.125 with just a small network and all our iMAP access via Outlook is hosed. It regularly hangs up on all our XP boxes with AVP.EXE consuming more than 50% of the cpu.

It was working slow with iMap, but at least working, until the recent updates. Now it just totally hangs. I may have to disable Kaspersky until they get it fixed because checking email > av program.

I initially went with Kaspersky because it was fast and seemed to have the smallest footprint. Now its just getting bloated like its competition

Under 7.0.0.125 most IMAP is ok, but I'm getting hangs on writing to the "Sent" folder after a send. For now I've turned of monitoring of the IMAP/IMAPS ports, but I'm not sure if it fixed it.

Is a real pain. Was working fine when I first installed, but some recent update has trashed things.

I know it isn't server based because it's hitting up multiple IMAP servers...

Did you deinstall Symantec only via Software or did you use afterwords the Cleanup-Tool from Symantec??

If you didn't use the cleanup tool you'll get always problems because symantec s**** and leaves after 'normal'
deinstallation a lot of rubbish back in the registry and this is the origin of all problems with other AV-Scanners
installed afterwords.

Version 7.0.xxx is the RETAIL product for 'homeuser' and not the 'business' product and works different!

I am using KAV Windows Workstation 6.0.3.837 and I had a problem with Outlook locking up. Instead of turning Anti-spam completely off, I just unchecked the Mail Dispatcher option, this worked like a charm. I know it does not fix the problem, but it is a good work around until the issue gets a patch.
