Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux Mail Server

Software Requirements: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux File Server

Software Requirements: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 4

Hi,

We plan on installing Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux Mail Server and AV for file server on the same machine.. but i'm a bit confused with system requirements of both products (KAV for mail and file).

We decided to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3 in order to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux Mail Server but what about the protection of the machine (File Server) since both of the products is installed in one machine.. System requirements of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Linux File Server dont have support on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3.. can i still install linux for file server running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3?

Our operating system option for Linux are:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 3
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 4

which will work best? any idea guys.. thanks

yes, requirenemts are differ. you may try to install kav4ms and kav4fs on RHEL4. Possible both products will be worked (just not tested) but you potentialy loose support for kav4ms in this case.

Were (our clients) still discussing about what OS (linux) that were going to install on the machine, maybe we'll use RHEL3 since kav4ms system requiremnts is RHEL3, anyway we still have one option fedora core 4.. well as of now the machine has an existing fedora core 4, is it possible to install kav4ms on fedora core 4, is it tested, will it run smoothly on it, how about the support?.

please advise..

thanks again for the reply..

if you test it and it worked why not? smile.gif

main problem that binaries compiled with old libs may be work on new libs (kav4ms on RHEL4) but new binaries with 90% will be not worked on old libs (kav4fs on RHEL3).
FC4 it pracicaly the same RHEL3. But with major difference - community support dropped now for FC4 (OS support i mean, security fixes, etc), but RH still officially support RHEL4 now.
ask directly about support our products on these platforms by http://support.kaspersky.ru/helpdesk.html?LANG=en
