I have recently had the same problems in Microsoft Access 2000 and Access 2003, not being able to see fields in the drop-down boxes when running Wizards for queries and reports, among others.
We are running Win XP Pro on a peer-to-peer network. Kaspersky AV for Windows Workstations 5.0.200 on all machines.
Mike is onto a solution. For me, setting a PC's Real-Time Protection to "High Speed" allows MS Access wizards to operate properly IF the database is on the local machine. For a database opened over the network, the "High Speed" setting did NOT allow the wizards to work. You need to disable Real-Time Protection completely.
Of course, Administrative Users can disable, but Limited users can't, so there's a bit of work involved to change settings for my staff.

It appears that if you just allow Calling to API function, it will resolve the problem without changing everything but the kitchen sink to allow.
