Is it possible to upgrade the 30day trial to the full version without reinstalling from a boxed copy of KIS 6?


Reason I ask is I have Kis 6.0 on order from amazon (they have good pricing on it atm) just wandering if i could install the 30day trial now and then switch to full when my boxed copy arrives without a reinstall.

Sure, you just use the activationcode provided to activate your trial version and convert it to a fully licensed version.

To do this:

Open Kaspersky.

Click on the "service" tab

Click on "license info"

Then in the box which pops up click "activate" and proceed to activate using the supplied activationcode.

Let me start by saying I've tried all the leading virus protection programmes during the past decade -- except Kaspersky.

Then I my current one expired and I was advised to try Kaspersky. I've installed 7.0.0.119 to evaluate and I'm very impressed with the results. Dozens and dozens of viruses, worms, adware and trojans that Norton allowed were caught by this version of Kaspersky.

I thought that deserved going from TRIAL version to PAID version (both are FULL, right?) but hesitate because 7.0.0.119 can detect but CANNOT manage several of the infections.

Virus.Win32.AutoRun.k (in netused.dll)

I used BitDefender prior to trying the latest version of Norton and it was also able to detect these but clearly did NOT kill them. I thought I had been able to manually delete the infected files but apparently failed.

So my question is whether Kaspersky is flexible and robust enough to terminate this problem without me deleting EIGHT YEARS of email as the programme recommends. Sorry, that's not going to happen and it's quite a silly suggestion because of five infected messages it cannot handle.

Regarding Virus.Win32.AutoRun.k, that is in the system and not related to email but again, Kaspersky 7.0.0.119 cannot deal with it in four or five .DLL files. Of course, the virus is not telling me what actively working programmes the infected files relate to so I can shut them down. I've made sure the infected files are not locked. And I've gone through all the programs listed in the Windows Task Manager and shut them off one at a time while at the same time trying to delete these infected files. That also failed.

Can your Kaspersky 7.0.0.119 kill these or not? If not, what can?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

the first two, these are phishing mails, they are somewhere in a mail databse, sometimes kis can only remove the whole database.
What you can do is look for the mail in your mail client and manually delete it.

The third one, boot in safe mode, you should be able to remove it from there, however there are probably more files out there. and we'll have to look for them and clean them.

regarding kasersky 119 is old, the latest build is 124

I've already deleted all the infected email messages (CTRL-Delete) but when I open Eudora again they are still there. They also seem to be able to migrate when attempts are made to squish them.

I cannot trash so many years of messages so I need to find an alternative to trashing the entire database.

I tried exporting them out of Eudora to another format or program in the hope that would make the virus more vulnerable but haven't found a viable solution yet.

It's hard to believe this virus is so much more smarter than all anti-virus companies and their software.

Does Kaspersky upgrade itself from 119 to Build 124 automatically when it updates itself or is that only for the virus definitions?

New builds must be downloaded and installed by yourself.
With the auto-update you update only the signatures and download hotfixes, but if there is a new build, you must download it.
In the future there will be a news-agent which shows you, when there is a new build. But it isn't used yet.
Remember, that version .124 isn't released in English, but only in German, French and Russian.
