Hi,

I'm using the Kaspersky SMB suite and on some workstations when I try to install the Kaspersky Network Agent from the Server it gives me this error : Cannot start the task because other installations are still running there.

I tried rebooting the workstations and it still says the same thing. What is wrong ?

Hi!

Maybe some of this things will heklp you:

- Take a look into your Eventlogs - maybe you'll find an explizit error here.
- Was there another installation on the machine before or from another vendor?
- Have you checked the SERVICES if there's maybe still one running?
- Have you tried a local installation of the Agent?
- Does the Machine have the same Admin account as all other machines?
- Does the Machine has the Admin C$ share?

Just check these things and report us again cool.gif

Nothing special there.

- Was there another installation on the machine before or from another vendor?
Nope, all is ok.

- Have you checked the SERVICES if there's maybe still one running?
No other services than the standards ones.

- Have you tried a local installation of the Agent?
The agent installs itself correctly locally.

- Does the Machine have the same Admin account as all other machines?
Yes, it's on the same domain as all my other ones.

- Does the Machine has the Admin C$ share?
yes and works well

Just check these things and report us again  cool.gif

There you go ! Heheheh !

The strange thing is that I can install the agent or Kaspersky Workstation on the machine using the remote share of my Kaspersky server. But if I do that, the Kaspersky Server can not control this installation and it tells me that it's out of control and I need to control all my stations from my Server.

Hi,

If I do understand right, you used the admin kit and deploy the Network Agent.
Means, you should still have that first deployment task in the tasks window. If you select that task and click on the "History" button, there should be something written in there, whi ch could give a clue.
At first sight, I`d suspect, that this task stopped somewhere (or is still marked as running) and you did another start of the same task or created another deploy task to the same machine.

Another source of them "out of control"-problems can be firewall issues. Are the ports 13000 and 14000 (tcp) and 15000 (UDP) opened (applies only IF you used the default ports, please adjust, if you used customized ports)? Please check that with netstat command locally on the client(s).

That means you already started some installation for this computer and it still running. Try to find remote installation task where installation for this computer is running and stop one.

Yes you are correct, I am using the Admin kit. And in the History is exactly what I have written before as the error, in fact I took it from there smile.gif It says : "Cannot start the task because other installations are still running there."

As of the Ports well those are windows 2000 workstations with no firewalls on em.

Ok, then please check again what I wrote before and the addition of kulaga. There MUST be another task still being running, which has to be stopped first.
Please look into the "Tasks" folder in the root tree (screenshot attached) where this task(s) should be to find.

I had the same problem.

After a deinstallation taks I somehow stupidly removed the network agent before the reboot.
Resulting in the message when I try to deploy the network agent again that the installation task was still running.
Stopping the task in the Admin Kit resolved this ..
