Full Version: Event processing in Administration Kit

I tried to set up event processing on a single server for testing. I switched the event severity to "Info" and turned on e-mail. Under the advanced button i stated the mailbox to recieve the mail, thei ip-number of the smtp server and the port on the server. I fill in a "dummy" message test.
This works as long as im using a "real" Microsoft SQL server. When im trying to get it running with MSDE it fails. Its not sending anything.

Im sure theres nothing wrong with the smtp server because it is running other applications without errors, and its sending messages from the Adminkit with Microsoft SQL.

I tried several different setups in VMWARE, but whenever im using MSDE its not working.

Please help.

Best regards

if ur running ms sql server 2000, then you dont need kav msde .. just install kaspersky adminkit.

I have the same problem, I'm using MSDE as database and I'm unable to receive notifcation e-mails.
Can anyone please advise how to troubleshoot this?

Hi!

I am not sure, if I do understand this posts right but, ... receiving notification mails should not be a matter of MSDE or SQL, I think.
If you are using the lastest Version of admin kit, there is an option to test the sending of notifications to a specified mail address.
Please check this:
Right click on the Admin Kit Server in the tree on the left side of the M$ console.
In there, in the properties, you can find the global setting for notifications, including a "test" button which will send a test notification.
I am sorry, I cannot give more specific info at this moment, have no running machine with that at home but maybe you are able to find it anyways.
By the way, for initial testing, I always use the "net send" option, because it rules out any mailer problems. And, ... I did use the MSDE always to do that, which was working fine.

Greetings

I can't believe that this is a matter of MSDE or SQL.

Don't forget to fill in the advanced window with informations of an account which is authorized to send email through your email server

Yes, I did that. My collegues told me, that our mailserver would accept anonymous mails from our LAN-site. Actually, it does, but only from email-addresses, which are known in the mail-domain. Using an existing alias solved my problem.
