Full Version: Process out of control

Like some others on the forum, I'm getting the kaspersky process running out of control.

Typically this involves CPU @ 80-99%, vast amounts of virtual memory being allocated (800 MB+), and acceptance when I click "pause protection" but in fact becoming unresponsive to control and continuing to process indefinitely whilst showing protection is paused. Only rebooting seems to fix it.

System spec: Athlon 64, 3/4 MB ram, WinXP Pro SP2 with latest patches, zero other apps running, near-clean install, no viruses, clean reboot, clean install of latest KIS 6.0.2

I enclose a screenshot. this shot was taken 20 mins after I shut down the one (only) application running, and also paused Kaspersky. It shows 1/2 GB memory still allocated to Kaspersky, 90%+ CPU still being used (for nothing...?), and the KIS control panel showing the program as paused... but top right still shows as "pausing". KIS will not allow me to either exit or close it, either on control panel or in system tray.

Update, 40 mins after clicking "pause", and with zero other processes active nor any net traffic, it's still doing the same.

This is making Kaspersky unusable. Advice and workarounds?

Thanks.
