I have 10 MB cable connection via Surfboard modem and Netgear WN8348 router. System is WinXP +SP2.
I regularly autotest download connection speed. Since installing K 6 security suite my speed has dropped to 5 MB. If I disable K 6 the download speed shows an average around 9 MB over 24 hours
Probably as a newcomer to K6 I have configured it wrong. Currently I have the defualt settings with all protection enabled.

What should i do to improve download speed without losing essential protection?

If not done you've to disable the scan of networkdrives. - That's it!

Thanks, I have done this but there is litle improvement. If I have a really large file I need to disable protection untill it is done.

Perhaps you should update the driver of your network adpater.

Hey this problem isnt something new , Lot of KIS users have this problem.They see a noticeable decrease in download and surfing speed after installing KIS, It might be related to your network card drivers but I dont agree with this because in this case you should be having same speed after disabling KIS, DO this,
1. Disable Network drives scan
2. go to KIS settings-----Web AV----there move slider to HIGH, Apply ok

I have done this and get slight improvement but the RAW speed is 10 Mbs down with KIS is 5 Mbs. As to the drivers, they are the latest from nvidia for geforce 7950
