I installed version 6.0.2.678 on my workstation. It had previously been running
5.0.712 without any major issues.
However, since the update, I have not been able to run the "required" full computer scan".
It begins...runs through for a while...and will stop with the following message
in the log "AVP.6.678_04.12_20.43_1b0.SRV.exception.log"
(Full and mini dumps as well)

Unhandled exception 0xc0000005 occured
EXCEPTION_RECORD ===============
Code = 0xc0000005
Flags = 0x00000000
Address = 0x64a1c5f2

It ALWAYS happens while scanning my Outlook 2003 Mail folders. There doesn't
seem to be any way to exclude these from the scan (not that I WANT to), but
I am become very annoyed that there doesn't seem to be any way to get it
working properly. Yes, I played with the Admin Kit's task settings, but again, I
WANT to scan everything (at least one time) so it will shut up.
Outlook was never a problem with KAV5WS.

As a result, the system is unusable until it is restarted, if the scan is allowed to go
ahead.

I won't deploy to other computers until this is resolved.

Thanks for any help I can get,
Frank

Have you tried to scan it with disabled 'proactive defense' and have you checked which file directly causes the problem?!
You possibly have an entry in the eventlog of your client in system or application log.

I did not disable the "proactive defense". I'll give it a shot though docs say that this is a forced FULL scan. No option to deselect items for this scan. KAV insists on doing a full initial scan of "My Computer"

I even adjusted the "Group Task" settings to skip my mail system.

As for which file causes the problem...The failure ALWAYS happens on the Outlook 2003 PO scan. Meaning, it is scanning the contents of my PST files. I even tried moving, deleting and archiving the messages. It founds some other mail message to fail on. This was never a problem with KAV5WS.
It would be nice to keep using KAV6WS as it provides more than v5 did. I was using ZoneAlarm Pro with KAV5WS without major issue...except ZA is a resource
pig...

side note:
The biggest issue I've encountered (and not totally resolved) is when I send a message out (using distribution list). This seems related to different address formats of the recipients and whether they are in my Contacts and have multiple emails that are not included in the distribution list definition. The message stuck in outbox, but each attempt to send works. Outlook reports a problem with the outgoing account.

Disable the Anti-Hacker component and if this works set AntiHacker on enable again and into trainingsmode also it could be possible to delete some rules first before the trainingmode works correctly.

Well...I disabled "Proactive Defense" and "Anti-Hacker"
Ran my "Scan My Computer" to get a full scan done.
Scan competed without failing.
Enabled "Proactive Defense" and "Anti-Hacker"
And it's been humming ever since.

Much appreciate the help, defekt! Thanks.

Follow-Up:

It was still fussy...errors out again.
I ran a custom job that ONLY scanned the mailboxes and
removed any message upon which the failure occurred.
Note: The offending messages caused Outlook 2003 to crash out
when slecting/viewing it. (Right-click delete solved the issue right quick)

Ran a full system scan from "group tasks" option in Admin Kit.
No failures. Success, at last.

Process of elimination...
