Full Version: 5.0.77 x64 WinSvr crash on page file size change

I found that having the Kaspersky AV 5.0.77 for 64 bit WIndows fileserver running on Windows 2003 x64 edition will crash the server every time, whenever the page file size is changed.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? This behavior is consistent across all of our WIndows 2003 x64 servers I've tested so far.
I can get around the issue by stopping the KAV service just before changing the page file size.

FYI...

Also, we just purchased KAV 5.0.77 last October or so. Do we have to again purchase an upgrade to get to version 6.0?

Thank you,
Sam

Hello,

Upgrade to KAV FS 6 is free since you licence is still valid.

Concerning your issue, you should eventually upgrade your product to KAV FS 6.0.2.678 and see if the crash persists.

KAV FS 6 seems to be compatible with your Operating System

When I tried to install 6.0, and use the install key I have now, it said the key is not valid for this version. Do I need to obtain a new key?

One more thing... I excluded pagefile.sys from real time scans and this resolved the issue.

Should pagefile.sys usually be set to be scanned in realtime? Could there be a virus issue by not having pagefile.sys scanned realtime?

Hello,

licence key for KAV FS 5.0 can not be used with KAV FS 6.0 but upgrade is normally free.
You should ask your reseller or contact Technical Support via the Helpdesk form.

Concerning the file pagefile.sys, I don't think it can be infected because of the size of the file (virus use to hide in small file size). There is probably worm like this one which can delete this file.
