This may seem like an obvious question, but I want to make sure that I understand everything. I am just about to take the almighty plunge. We have a single server at one of our remote locations. It is running Exchange 2003 with Windows 2003. In addition, it has a separate drive to act as a small file server. Does Kaspersky for Exchange scan the files on the machine as well? I would like something to scan the second drive. I am doubtful to install the Kaspersky for File Servers on the same machine.
I understand the concept of the Admin Kit. However, is a separate package that must be purchased independently? Again, would it be advisable to install it on this same machine?
Forgive my ignorance, I have not found much documentation on these subjects.
David
Hi David,
yes you need KAV for Fileserver on the same machine.
The AdminKit is for free.
You must run the klcfginst.exe from the Kav4Exchange package to administrate this product from the AdminKit.
Hello,
Please note :
QUOTE
If you install Kaspersky Anti-Virus on a server on which any anti-virus application for mail server is already installed (or is going to be installed in the nearest future) then in Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Servers in the real-time protection and on-demand scan tasks it is recommended to exclude from scan:
* virtual disc M: (for Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 only),
* temporary directory that is used by the anti-virus for mail servers;
* the quarantine directory to which anti-virus mail servers will quarantine infected objects (if the mail anti-virus has such option).
