I seem to be having an issue with the latest version of Nero (7.7.5.1) and KAV 5.0.712 for Workstations on Windows Xp SP2 computers.

When you install the latest version of Nero or try to download it from Nero, background and full system scans give a warning on a file in the Nero package (toolbar.exe). I recieve this warning ...

(not-a-virus:adtool.Win32.mywebsearch)

The signatures are up to date, I don't seem to have the option to exclude the file and thus the AV warning keeps popping up.

I am running 6.02.614 personal on my system (Vista Business RTM) with Nero 7.7.5.1 and it doesn't see Nero as a problem.

I asked Nero about it and they directed me to a page on their site...

http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/virus_threat.html

They are basicly saaying it's not a problem with Nero, but the virus scanners.

Thanks

its my understanding that all kav "not-a-virus" findings are really warnings that they want you to be aware of and not true problems.

It worked, KAV notified you and you in turn did your due dilligence reasearch to understand that this really isn't a problem. Your now safe to add this THREAT to the exclusion list. I say THREAT versus object (file) because files have a way of being copied such as into backups/system restores/whatever so its easiest to exclude the threat versus just the file.

open kaspersky, click "settings", "threats and exclusions", "add", if you just see an "object' dialog box click the expand button to obtain the "threat" dialog box as well.
paste your threat (not-a-virus:adtool.Win32.mywebsearch) into that dialog box.

Once you have that defined then go back to settings screen and click "configure real time protection"
look for the "exclusions" line and click that link, now put a check in "use general list of exclusions".

When your done with that, go back to settings tab and click"on demand scan tasks" for each one of your tasks you have go into properties and do the same check mare for "use general list of exclustions"

When you have done all of the above kaspersky should now and forever accept this particular "not-a-virus" warning as something which is to be allowed.
