Full Version: Esclusions, speed, and v6 release date?

I have installed KAV 5 for Windows workstations (Italian language, so it's not the latest version) on about 80 workstations, and KAV admin kit (english language, so it's the latest version) in october 2006, and since then we are experiencing issues.

SPEED: Kav seems to slow down everything a lot. I have tried disabling quite everything, I have disabled macro scanning, network drives scanning, email scanning, I just left with real time file protection, and have set it to scan only objects that can be infected. Still computers are terribly slow when accessing outlook PST files (on local disk).

EXCLUSIONS: Since computers are slow accessing pst files, I have tried excluding them completely. I have excluded "*.pst" (without quotes!) and still KAV seems to scan pst files, judging by the speed and the fact that its "scanned object" counter increases while outlook crawls to open a folder.

I have looked at every thread regarding exclusions, and I must consider myself lucky, since I was able to actually exclude WinVNC and it quite worked. Sometimes it pops up warnings about Winvnc, and something it does not. I have not been so lucky with "*.pst", it seems.

Why do people from Kaspersky Labs seem to ignore the esclusions issue? Is it because they are working full time at version 6? When will version 6 be available, then?

We have purchased a 3-years license because I suggested it, and now I am held responsible for these problems.

in russian it will be ready very soon(nearest two weeks). i think english version would have same relise date.

About exclusions. it is two kinds of exclusion. global and for task. be sure that RTP uses global exclusion list. btw, you can add *.pst only for real time protection, and also may be it work, for mail protection.(by default it would scan post bases)

of couse, all of this you can make via policy in Kaspersky Administration Kit

I have set both realtime protection and on-demand scan to use global exclusions list, have locked the policies, and still exclusion works "sometimes". Now I'm just hoping for a quick release of version 6, hoping that it will work properly.

same problems here...

we were forced to remove it until we get the new version... but we got 2 years not 3 :/

I can't believe that lots of people are reporting issues with exclusions, and still Kaspersky is not doing anything about it.
