I have a problem with KIS 6.0.2.586 and Windows Vista Business RTM.

I can not install KIS. In the installation I choose only to install the Anti-Virus components. Then the installation starts. But when the installer wants to copy the new files the whole system hangs.

What can I do?
I have a really fresh installation of vista here.
Lucian Bara
what if you disable the option to enable self defense before the installation?
zwelch82
Big THANKS.

It worked well.
zwelch82
grrrrr......the installation was ok. but now, vista hangs totally after the restart.

KIS seems that it does totally not work with vista....
Now I can reinstall vista for the fourth time today....

just download kiskav6 remove: ftp://ftp.kaspersky.com/utils/KIS6/REMOVER/KisKav6Remove.zip
boot the pc into safe mode, unpack that zip and start avp_remove.cmd
this should remove kis completatly.
zwelch82
thanks.

but what can I do to make KIS work on my vista?

You could try the 'WKS' version this is very similar to kis.
It used to work better but there are little difference between them
these days. Let us know how you get on, it could help others. smile.gif
See 'item 3a' in FAQ posted by wizard at the top of this forum.

Now I have also tested KAV 6.0.2.586 (German) and KAV for Workstations 6.0.2.586 (German) on my Windows Vista Business RTM (German).

Both do not work either.

Always the same thing like with KIS 6.0.2.586 (German).
Vista hangs after login, so I only can reset the computer.

What goes wrong here?
dicht
Hi,

can you tell if you maybe also have an RAID1 onboard configuration?
like on my system with VISTA 32 bit also KAV installs but then the whole system hangs and this is just when I use my onboard ICH7 raid1 then it seems KAV is doing collisons with iastor.sys from Intel.

Please let us know your hardware config.

thanks
dicht
zwelch82
Yes, I have an onboard RAID0-config (ICH7R).

Intel Core 2 Duo
Intel i975X & ICH7R
.
.
.
zwelch82
What can I do now?
dicht
Hi,

its the same Motherboard + CPU config I have and o posted to every BETA version thats available here that issue of KAV . I hope KL will fix this soon, as KAV is absolutly not working with the ICH7 onboard RAID solution.

I am also WAITING for an fix. seems nobody here at KL is interested in that bug :-(.

dicht
zwelch82
grrrrrr....why does Kaspersky not fix that bug?

There are not only few people which have that southbridge on their mainboard.
I thought that it is most important that Kaspersky runs on a system.

I am so angry that I installed Windows Live OneCare now and it works very well.

@Dicht and Zwelch82,

Please rember that this is still a 'beta' version, nobody beside KL knows what's
on there BUG list. In the passed KL alway's found a way to solve problems...

My best guess is that this has something to do with KiS locking the HD during
boot, chkdsk and defrag are also not able to run during startup...

You can offcoure alway's send a pm to somebody from KL to ask if this problem
is on the BUG list....

@Zwelch82,
Windows Live OneCare looks a nice on first site... But I will never let
Microsoft secure my systems... If the product was that good why didn't
they put it right in Vista ?

So again to both, please standby and test the next version to see if they
found a solution.. .. ..
Whizard
Exactly as Reload said. Please also make tracelogs on level 500 and upload them to FTP describing the case.
dicht
Hi all,

I tried to do an tracelog with the KL tracelog tool, but as the system completely freezes its impossible to make an tracelog and also no dmp files are generated.
Thats the problem.

Also I asked if its possible to help in another way , maybe there are boot switches or sth. for KAV.

And I think every ICH7R based mobo with the iastor.sys driver installed (either HDD in RAID0 or 1) will have that freeze. And there are a lot of MoBos out there with that sort of chipset (not just the Intel ones).

I think that too.

In my opinion, such a huge bug should be fixed as fast as possible.
As "dicht" said, this bug is known since the first beta and since then ignored.

So please do something. Vista is out since 30th Nov 2006 and it can not be used normally, because you have no working version of KAV or KIS out. I would be happy when the beta would work (it does not need to be a stable version).
zwelch82
I reported this bug to "foxgen" now and he will redirect it to appropriate people.

They will try to fix it.

Hi,

i have exactly the same problem, and also have a RAID 0 array on the i975x intel chipset running with Vista Ultimate 32bit.

I wanted to mention that i am more than just a little disapointed about this
-> desperately waiting for a bug fix !!

For the second time.... This still is a BETA product...
Give KL some credit and give them time to fix it...

Did KL leave you guy's ever down in the passed?
No, then way should the do now ?

No. Normally KL does a great job.
But because of this I think it is unusual that KL take so much time to fix such a huge bug.
dicht
Hi,

we all here know that KL is doing a great AntiVirus product, thats why we (I) paid for this product about years. And we all know its a BETA software for VISTA of course, but as I stated 3 times in this forum for every BETA version that this is an enormous bug , I would like to think KL could say sth. like we are on the way testing this bug or fixing it. A system freeze is a real BUG, sth. like my Internet is slowing down when I installed KAV is a more less bug. So I assume the KL team should work on real bugs and then start fixing and tuning GUI bugs and stuff like that.

I like KAV thats why I wanne have it under VISTA and if I can help by debugging sessions or sth. let me know. I have plenty of that kind of hardware with ICH7R ICH8R around me as I am also a developer but mainly for hardware diagnostic and testing tools.

thanks and regards

I share the opinion of zwelch82, I know its still in beta stage and like all others here I think Kaspersky is doing a great job!
I could have already switched to other Antivirus Products which run very good on Vista, on the other side I don´t want to use any other than Kaspersky.

-BUT- I also think Kaspersky should hurry a little because I just dont want to use an unsecure system for too long.

Hope you understand that.
Whizard
We do understand. Unfortunately Vista has not launched yet, it will be ready in due time.

From Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Windows_Vista

Release to Manufacturing (RTM) (built on November 1, 2006 with a build number of 6000.16386) is the final version of Windows Vista that will ship to customers.[49] Microsoft announced this build had been finalized on November 8, 2006, after over five years of development.[50]

The RTM's build number jumped to 6000 to reflect Vista's internal version number, NT 6.0.[51] Jumping RTM build numbers is common practice among consumer-oriented Windows versions, like Windows 98 (build 1998), Windows 98 SE (build 2222), Windows Me (b.3000) or Windows XP (b.2600), as compared to the business-oriented versions like Windows 2000 (b.2195) or Server 2003 (b.3790). On November 16, 2006, Microsoft made the final build available to MSDN and Technet Plus subscribers.[52] A business-oriented Enterprise edition was made available to volume license customers on November 30[53], with general availability coming on January 30, 2007.

And Kaspersky will launch there products around the official launch off Windows Vista (30 jan 2007)

But on 30th Nov 2006 it was also made available for example for students. That was it, what I ment.

Which build do you have installed? 6.01.411 isn't Vista compatible.

6.02.586 is the latest beta-build with Vista compatibility. Wait a few days, a Vista compatible version is on it's way...

Thats wierd,

ok i have a RAID 0 running on my system, but that shouldnt make a difference.

If you say that there is a collision with iastor.sys try installing the newest inf installation from intel for Vista.
I just had a look at the properties of the RAID controller in the hardware manager an it says it uses -> iastorV.sys <- in the driver details.
Maybe this is the probelm ... im not sure.

Should be worth trying.
Lucian Bara
actually, you might be on the right track, it might be that, (v for vista)?

I have an asus p5w-dh board (i975 chip) running with 2 hardisks (raid0) after installing the newest intel inf update (6.2.1.1002) the driver is named iastor.sys without a "V" (Vista Ultimate OEM) no way to running latest beta on my sys
dicht
Hi guys,

I am using the latest Intel Matrix Storage manager from intel for Vista 32 , which also installs a agent and which installs the newest iastor.sys driver. iastorv.sys is one of the first Intel iastor drivers thats build into VISTA (VISTA then just renames iastor.sys in iastorv.sys when it finds the build in driver is better, can happen when you try to install a iastor.sys driver from Intel which is not certified for VISTA or this renaming can happen when it finds more then just one iastor.sys in the drivers directory).

But as I said in all threads here I did try all VISTA drivers from Intel and the build in one and i tried all KAV BETA versions. I did clean installs from VISTA with nothing installed. Its definitly a collison beetween iastor.sys and KAV.

Believe me I tried a lot and not on just one MoBo, as I am a software developer for Hardware diagnostic and testing tools I have plenty of different hardware around in our labs.

dicht

BTW: can someone please change the topic name from Windows Vista into sth like Windows Vista freeze with i975X/ICH7R chipset. Thanks would like to know if there are more out having that kind of freeze.

I agree with you regarding the iastor.sys driver I just looked at the content of the inf installation I installed and it doesnt even contain ans iastor.sys nor iastorV.sys.

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPo...47248&SiteID=17

Looks like the problem is more Asus/Dell/Intel related then it has
something to do with KiS/KaV... Mabe KiS/KaV is just the spark
to stop youre pc... But there are also people without KiS/KaV
that report the same problems...
