Greetings everyone!! i took a look through the forum and couldn't find an answer to my problem. So I'm posting here....

My Situation:
We're running Kaspersky on our network (Kaspersky Mnmgt Console 2.0 ver 5.1 and Kaspersky Administration Kit Version: 5.0.1151).

I just downloaded the Workstation 5.0.712, and I wanted to create a package for remote installation. As I was going through the process of creating and uploading the package (using the "New Installation Package" wizard in Remote Install), I recieved the error message:

"Cannot copy the application distribution file "XXX\XXXXXX\XXXX" because network share does not exist or inaccessible."

- where XXX is the path to the share file/ folder on one of our servers (where we were keeping our updates and so on). This path is the OLD name of the server (it has since been changed). Basically, same server, different name.

My PROBLEM:
when I go to change the location in Kaspersky Admin (to the share folder it SHOULD be pointing to, i.e. the "new" server name), it will not allow me to do so. I get a

"Cannot change the status of the public folder."

Any ideas on how to fix it (besides uninstalling and re-installing)? I believe it's a corruption in the registry... but not sure how to fix it. This is the only problem we're having (all workstations recieve their updates with no probelm, and the server recieves it's updates with no problem).

In Summary -
***Installed Kaspersky on network/ servers and workstations. (worked fine)
***Changed server name but did not re-install Kaspersky.
***Cannot upload new installation packages (because Kaspersky still using "old" server name."
*** Cannot change server name within Kaspersky to the new name.

Would love some ideas.... hopefully I didn't confuse anyone.

OK..... one solution I found (in the forums) was to just rename the server back to the old name.

Though I do have the ability to do this, this server is also hosting other files and network apps. To change the name back would be "hazardous" to a number of areas, and very time consuming to change everything.

I would prefer not to do it. blink.gif

Hallo

is there a solution for this problem? I have got the same...

Digital Integ
I have managed to solve it.
My situation in brief: domain controller running Win 2k3 with KAV Adminkit. I had to rename domain controller. After I did it, the similar problem described in this topic appeared. Ex: old name - SERVER, new name - NEWSERVER. The problem was that KAV KLSHARE location pointed to old servername, and when trying to change public folder location, KAV Adminserver tried to copy files from old non-existent location - \\SERVER\KLSHARE to a new location which contained the same KAV files.
This is what I did to resolve issue:
1. Added old computername as a secondary name by using netdom.exe - at this point machine replied to both names: SERVER and NEWSERVER
2. Created temporary folder and shared it with permissions Everyone - Full control, let's say - TEMPKLS share.
3. Changed public folder path from \\SERVER\KLSHARE to \\SERVER\TEMPKLS
4. Changed public folder path from \\SERVER\TEMPKLS to \\NEWSERVER\KLSHARE
5. Removed temporary directory and removed secondary computername by using netdom.exe
