All,

Below is feedback from one of our clients regarding Kaspersky Anti-Spam:

The problems I had with the Antispam were that it had to update itself
daily, weekly or monthly. I had it set to daily it was quite a large update
daily, it could only update when you opened your email which was a big
annoyance to wait for it to update before you could check your mail. If they
are going to make the spam filter rules based then it needs to update in the
background like the antivirus. It was also an ok spam filter, SpamBayes is
free and is bayesian filter based that learns from you and works much
better.... and never updates.

The anti-spam feature in KIS is set to use Bayesian filtering, which IMO will be far better than the database-driven signatures used in current versions at the moment.

Yeah, Kaspersky PLEASE..... You must make this anti-Spam thing do automated updates because I am getting really tired of having to click the button each day when it asks if I want to update the data base. Thanks.
Graham
It does automatically update if you have configured it to (depending on the Kaspersky product).

Open the Kaspersky Administration Kit {if you have it installed}

Go to the group/network policies. add one for your email server, click on the updates tab in the properties of said policy.

set the time to update there.

Only problem is that this only works for the servers (business version of the products) I haven't ever used the home edition (as yet).
Whizard
In home editions you just configure the updater "Run Time".

btw, KAS 2.0 is obsolete,
KAS 3.0 gives much better results in filtering spam nowadays...

(it's offtopic here, sorry - you'll better create a new topic to discuss this...)
