I am deploying Kaspersky 5 at a new location. Admin kit and workstation.

About 40 of the 60 PCs are discovered upon the initial install (network discovered and AD scan I assume). I move all the PCs with an IP address into a group I create, that goes well. I do that so I know the PC isn't an old AD computer.

But then about 20 PCs I can't connect to at all. I know the IP of certain PCs, I have File and Print sharing enabled, no firewall, same subnet as rest. The PC is pingable as the rest. But I can not connect to it in Kaspersky using IP or the computer found from AD.

Hi!

What OS does these machines have and which AdminKit (version/build) are you using ?!
Also it would be good to be sure that the MMC is in version 1.3 or 2.0 available!

Admin Kit 5.0.1151
MMC 2.0

I haven't quite inventoried all the PCs yet. But the network is a mix of Windows 2000 and XP. Some of the Windows XP PCs show up and then some do not, they can be right next to each other, installed at the same time, same applications.

If it's all XP computers that are not showing up, I'd look under services on one of those machines and be sure that the Internet Connection Sharing and Firewall Service is off and disabled.

Have you checked for double-entries ?! Sometimes i've seen double-entries this means you machine e.g. "xp-wks-holly" is the correct on but you can find another machine called "xp-wks-holly-1" under new dected machines. just check for this and the hint from 'WNovak2462' on XP machines is the most common problem with XP2.
to avoid it you can install XP-AntiSpy wub.gif , it has a setting which disables directly that service too wink.gif

Probably a bit late now, but for the record:
1/ Make sure all the PCs have a shared folder to ensure that they are seen on the network.
2/ Dont have a Workgroup called ADMIN ! Tha Admin Kit wont find PCs in an ADMIN workgroup. You can create another Group and add them by IP
