final stages of installation.

If you have beta-versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0, Kaspersky Internet Security

it is required to delete these versions before product installation.

2. In order to install the product using Kaspersky Administration Kit, perform
the following steps:
- Install the new version of Kaspersky Administration Kit Server on the
computer selected for this purpose.
- Install a new version of Network Agent on the remote workstations if a
previous version is currently installed.
- Install the application plugin for the administration system
(klcfginst.exe).
- Create the remote installation (deployment) package in the
administration system by selecting kav6.kpd file in the installation folder.
- When creating a deployment package, specify the license key that must be
obtained by visiting http://www.kaspersky.ru/activate; in order to do it,
specify beta activation key for the product, fill out the form and download the

5. The product can be installed using Remote Desktop Connection. In this case,
it is necessary to disable product self-defense in installation package settings.

6. The product can be installed with the help of Group Policy Objects. The order
of actions during such installation is described in the corresponding section of
Kaspersky Lab knowledge base.

Known Problems and Troubleshooting
==================================================================
1. Remote product installation via Kaspersky Administration Kit in silent mode is impossible on computers running Windows XP x64 (14352).
2. Product self-defense should be disabled in the settings of its installation package in case of product deployment via a Remote Desktop Connection.
3. The "Monitor all ports" setting should not be used while creating a policy via Kaspersky Administration Kit for the product on computers running Windows 9x as that will cause network access problems (14278).
4. Anti-Spam plug-in for Microsoft Office Outlook does not load after synchronization with a smartphone. In order to restore normal functionality of the plug-in, you should disconnect the smartphone from the computer and restart Microsoft Office Outlook (9478).
5. Scanning of SSL (encrypted) HTTP traffic does not function on computers running Windows 9x (14386).
6. When using a trial key, an accidental change of date on the user's computer may cause a premature expiration of the license period.
7. Scanning files will very long paths (more than 400 characters) can cause the program to crash under Windows 98 (15777).
8. To attempt the installation procedure again if an installation attempt has been interrupted already, you must restart your computer (15707).
9. The system library rundll32 may lock up when the changing WindowsBlinds skin (15139).
10. When a policy is applied for the first time after remote installation of the product, the settings that are not locked by this policy can be overwritten by the Setup Wizard. This is most possible for Windows 9x systems. Therefore, protect important settings from changes by using the lock icon (15913).
11. Before changing the list of installed components using the Administration Console, please remove the previous version (15487).
12. Default exclusions in the trusted zone are invalid for Windows XP x64 systems. To enable the exclusions, disable scanning encrypted traffic in the product settings. (15888).

Checking the Program Operation
==================================================================
1. Download test virus eicar.com (ftp://ftp.kaspersky.com/utils/eicar/ ) and
save it to your hard drive. If the File Anti-Virus is enabled, you will receive
a warning message.
2. Open http page http://www.eicar.com/anti_virus_test_file.htm and try to
download file eicar.com.txt using a link at the bottom part of the page. If the
Web Anti-Virus is enabled, you will receive a warning message.

Martin,

Maybe we're the only two who want it...

I don't know about you, but with the v6.0/MP1 love fest going on around us, I'm not feeling any love at the moment....

does it support vista ang longhorn OS? Ive read the forum for beta testing but it seems that it has a lot of bugs.. and i also notice that kaspersky is not in the list of certified ativirus supported for vista.

No you can put me down on the 'Want' list too, mainly for the Admin Kit improvements. Have had enough of having to manually create new packages and tasks on each of my slave servers to deploy updates rather then just once on the Master. Am also curious to see if they've simplified the structure of the groups/slave servers in the Admin Kit, at the moment there are far to many nested directories to get to the workstation list on your slave servers.

The original topic was posted November 9th saying it was out.

I'm posting this November 21th and still can't find it. Where is it?

Let me guess. You have the .402 TR that was uploaded to the server during beta testing, right?

I can't understand why it hasn't been released yet to the public. I have 4 WKS licenses and for the past half year I've been running betas because of the richer feature set. I'd really like to put my licenses at work with a solid, stable and commercial release.

Ok, so it is a commercial product that has only been released to selected people?

If this is the case, the title of this thread: "Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations, version 6.0.1.402 is out!!!" is wrong.

Well, maybe it's not that wrong, since 6.0.1.402 was posted to the beta FTP server some time ago, but that's not the same as saying it's been released. The only WKS downloadable version at the KL site at this moment is 5.0.712.

Well, to me the disappointing thing is that while a congratulatory close-out following the initial product and MP1 release is going on here, I still don't have any sense when the product that I actually use will be available for me to do any detailed shakedown configuration, and I'm not talking about MP1, this is the base release for WKS. Sure the KL development team is to be congratulated on what looks to be an extremely nice product package, but for some of us the roll-out has not yet occurred, so that celebration is a tad early.

Unfortunately, I was on traveling during the short time build 402 was actually available, so I don't have access to that either. Yes, I could play around with one of the later builds, but that's not my cup of tea. I'm really not a fan of constant application turnover even on my test partitions.

At the present, the focus seems to be Vista compatible MP2 development with no further word on the base release of WKS. It's almost as though it's been orphaned. I know that's not the case, but from the perspective of this customer it certainly seems that way and, to tell you the truth, it doesn't leave a pleasant taste in the mouth.

Maybe .402 is not the final release and that's why is not announced at the KL site or uploaded to the FTP server, who knows?

Well, the final builds of KAV/KIS are currently on the ftp server. The early Vista compatible builds of KAV/KIS/KAV-WKS are currently on the ftp server. Nothing related to the initial release of WKS seems out there at all. "Who knows?" pretty much captures it.

Yup, and it's not like WKS users are only buying one boxed retail product from BestBuy or whatever, we're buying in lots of 400! And I'm sure there are some bigger shops out there.

Little more communication on what's happening would be nice. Our subscriptions coming up for renewal soon and we have to make the call about whether to stick with Kaspersky or try something else.

Would also be nice to know what the installed user base for WKS is. They got any big name companies running it?

I was thinking this morning: what the heck. I'll go and download 1.411 which may or may not be the final release - I'm running one of the older betas and I'm not going back to 5 -. But, alas, it's gone from the FTP server.

IMHO, odd is thinking daily beta builds and having a fleet of users jonesing for MP2 or V7 at the moment is the norm or really a good idea when you get right down to it...., again, just IMHO....
