Hi,

I'm on the HELPDESK here and we are in need of some help. A few users are having problems with explorer.exe crashing when they log into the domain. We have some login scripts that run in IE 5 on startup and our intranet flashes up. We have had to stop the full scanning shedule as it greatly slowed down the machines when they were scanned every 10 days. Is it possible that if the machine hasn't been scanned at all or for like 150 days it goes into a super suspicious mode??

The only thing I can think of that could cause the crashes is KAV. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Hi,
Why do you think thats its related to KAV ? Try turning off KAV.

Through Administration Kit you can make a profile that will be active when 'a virus outbreak' will be upon us hehe.

Configure the policy and setting of your domain using the adminkit or Using the adminkit try to separate users that are slowing down and configure its policy like scheduled(updates, on-demand scan), on-demand scanning scope, real time scanning and level of protection. I also experienced those kind of stuff, what ive done is to configure the policies.

Well at the min there is no scanning shedule set up. Am I right in saying that if KAV hasn't scanned for a while it becomes very suspicious of every process, which slows the pc down due to the extra scanning involved?

i had this very same problem with explorer utilizing 70-80% CPU cycle, the problem went away once i 'repaired' Kaspersky Internet Security v6.0.0.300.

On a corporate network, sometimes backward compatibilty is more important than having the latest version of a browser or operating system. Reconfiguring and troubleshooting 600 "recently updated" pc's is no small order...massive amounts of testing are required first, and occasionally tests show the upgrades are a bad idea

And, no offense intended mboy, but answering a question with a question like that is very frustrating to the tech who has 600 people calling him for help all at once...
