Full Version: Disinfection is not possible

When I test my Rescue Disk against an EICAR test virus, the possible actions when the virus file is detected always shows "Disinfection is not possible. Reason: write not supported". I don't know what this means, as the virus location is clearly writable since the "delete the virus" option is available and works OK. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Standard EICAR without prefix simulates an undisinfectable threat.
It is meant to do this, as some files such as Trojans cannot be disinfected.
They aren't good files that have been infected, they're just malicious files, so there is nothing to recover, the whole files needs to be deleted.

TIP: You can add
CODE
CURE-

before the string, without spaces, this way the EICAR file simulates a virus which infects a good file (the CURE- part).
Kaspersky will then disinfect the file, deleting the string but not the CURE- part.

Thanks - that worked.
