Hi,
I am happy with Interactive mode except internet access. I don't like applications to connect internet without my permission and just want to see a prompt window when an application is only trying to access internet(not for other behaviors, rest of behaviors can be handled in interactive mod). Basicly, non-interactive mode for only internet access.

you can deny/manage access to the net via Application Filter in 2009 (or Application Control in 2010)
See under the Network settings

In 2010 : Change status > Custom > Rules (Network Rules)

My request is about a different thing.

I agree with you, this has been my main grumble with KIS 2010.
The Firewall settings were so much easier to set in KIS 2009

Just about every program now phones home when you start it. If I want a program updated I will do it manually, there is absolutely no need at all for everything constantly phoning home.
The way to block access in 2010 is counter productive compared to how easy it was in 2009.

I'm now using one of Pipkins skins which at least brings back the Application Tab.
The omission of the Application Tab with Network showing is totally unbelievable in KIS 2010.

Firewall is no LONGER enough to stop all of that.

agree fully with ya,should be able to manage program internet access on it own(seperately)also would make the whole program alot easier to use(imo)

There is no "firewall" word on my request wink.gif

"non-interactive mode for only internet access"
what whizard means is that if you want to prevent/control network access the firewall network access prompts (the green ones) aren't enough as applications can use other processes to access the internet (example DNS queries through another process, module injection into an application, sending messages to the browser and so on), so you would need all the application filtering to do that (so you will get almost all popups)

Thanks for the interests but i don't understand the replies. . . Or you didn't understand what i am asking.

Swtich to non-interactive mode ; You'll see network access popups when an applications tries to access internet. I want to see only these popups, rest of behaviors can be handled in interactive mode.
Whizard
The bottom line is you either get all popups or none at all. There is nothing in between. Interactive mode for power users, and Automatic mode for everybody else. Why do not you switch on Interactive mode and try for yourself? smile.gif
The point I am trying to make is that by getting only "the green prompts" you are luring yourself into false sense of security.
If you are not getting them (regardless of the mode), it certanly does NOT mean the applications are not accessing Internet without your permission.

That's why i am in "Suggestions for current and future versions of KL products" sub-forum.

The problem is about popups. I just want the network access popups in interactive mode.
Whizard
Ok, but you do understand the logic behind the feature implementation has to be reasonable to combat newly evolved threats? smile.gif
The feature is already here and its called Interactive Mode.
erdem444
Oh c'mon. Non-interactive mod popups is meanless for me because i am fine with the automatic decisions of KIS. The only problem is about internet access. . .
I don't like repating myself again again and again. . . I haven't posted any other thing but you still didn't understand what i am telling smile.gif
Lucian Bara
we do, you don't.
basically there are more ways to access the internet than plain straightforward TCP/UDP connections from the application itself, so you willl only be fooling yourself about controlling programs (and when one will be accessing the net because of that you'll wonder why)
erdem444
I already know that(we talked about it in another topic). Okay i don't care some of other applications which uses other ways to access internet because there will be no popup for them even if you're using non-interactive mode, right ? Do these popups prevent accessing internet for an application which uses usual ways to access internet ? This is the point.
