Hi,
First of all: My server is running Windows Server 2003 on KAV 6 with ~300 users.
I just tried to upgrade my KAV AdminKit 6 to KAV AdminKit 8. We did this in a test environment without any errors (but only with 2 Clients on Adminserver).
Now we tried it with the productive system - and it doesn't work. The installation is fine without any errors but when I open the Admin Console, it can't connect to the server. Even klbackup.exe can't connect to the service. When I look into the services on the machine, the services are not running. I can start them manually but the first time I run klbackup or AdminConsole the service is crashing again.
I looked up some errors in the EventLog. Approx. every 5-10 seconds there are 3 different error messages (in fact there are 4 messages, the 2nd error message appears twice):
1) Task was damaged and cannot be repaired.
2) Can't upgrade tasks: Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden. (which means: The system can't find the specified file)
3) Exception access violation occured at address 0x6696C1AE on thread 0x00000514 in process 380 while accessing address 0x00000000 for read
Does anyone know how to deal with it? I did a Snapshot of the virtual machine before the upgrade so it's no big deal restoring it, but I want this upgrade for the new MP4 client.
Thanks in advance for your support.
Regards,
Christian
Hello Christian,
is the service for the agent running?

Hi Helmut,
no, both services (Adminserver and network-agent) are showing the same behaviour and are both crashing.
The Eventlog shows as source "CSAdminServer" if this is of any help.
Please post the Event-ID.

Event-ID is always 1.
Attached screenshots show the events in detail. It's a german W2k3, sorry for that, but the basics should be clear.
Hello Christian,
please upload caadminkit.log and msiadminkit.log from %tmp% folder.

Hi,
attached you find the two files.
I had to zip the msiadminkit.log as it was too big at txt file (>2MB).

Christian

Hi,
Thank you! Worked perfectly fine. Attached you will find my result file.
This was a ~1year old installation of KAV AdminKit 6 at latest version 6.0.1710
There was never performed a KLBACKUP. The system was always running on W2k3 Server as a virtualized system on VMWare ESX Server 3.5 (shouldn't be a problem).
If you need any more information, let me know.
THANKS AGAIN!
Regards,
Christian

Nevertheless, do backups using klbackup on a regular basis, please.
