Here we go again...
I successfully installed KAV 6.0.4.1212 and Network Agent V8.0.2048 on one client machine and on the Admin Kit machine.
Now I'm trying to install it on the next machine in line.
Whether I try to install the Network Agent separately or the AV using the Windows resources, I get the same results:
The process resolves the machine name to the correct IP address;
Then it says "copying files to the destination computer...(\\10.1.10.31\admin$)
Then it says "arranging installation service"
Then it fails, saying "Downloading the package from the shared folder failed: System error 0x5 (access denied)"
Why did it work on two machines and not the current one?
I tried rebuilding the Network Agent package on the Admin kit and deploying it separately and it fails. I recreated the AV package and it fails.
I'm installing on a machine on which I have Admin credentials, and Classic Logon is enabled and there is no firewall.
Which "shared folder" is it complaining about? The one on the target machine or the one the Admin Kit is using to deploy the package?
Please use the tool "
Riprep" on the client to prepare the PC for deploying.

I did that. No effect.
And now I just installed the Network Agent manually on the machine, and then tried to deploy the AV - and now it tells me the operating system type is not supported! This is Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 and all updates! WTF?
Something is seriously wrong with either the Admin Kit, the AV package or the Network Agent.
It's beginning to look like I'm going to have to rip out the entire Admin Kit, Agent and AV packages altogether and start ALL OVER AGAIN! (This would be the second time installing the Admin Kit - I upgraded the old admin kit first, and then when issues developed, I ripped it out and installed it fresh.) It took me hours to get the firewall exceptions setup - fortunately I've exported them and can re-import. But this is getting extremely frustrating.
I'm beginning to suspect that I should have uninstalled the SQL Server database when I upgraded the old Admin Kit to V8.0 and then ripped that out and installed it clean.
I need help here!

OK, so I unchecked the box where is says check the OS type.
This time it tried to deploy, got as far as "setup started", then failed with:
"This application could not be installed. Current operating system is not supported".
Thats strange. Create
GSI.
And when you try to install locally from the share?

So I noticed that Spyware Terminator was running on that machine - as in fact it was running on the other two machines where the install worked - and that it reported blocking some action by the KAV installer. So I deactivated it and ran the install again.
Same result - operating system not supported!
Please post the result of GSI.

So I generated the GSI report, attached.
Then I tried installing it manually using the version of KAV for Windows Workstations I downloaded from the Product Updates Web page. That installed - but three of the main services are grayed out on the Protection screen, even though they are listed individually as enabled!!
So now I'm uninstalling that install, and will try installing the package from the Admin Kit share manually on the machine.

OK, so I created a standalone installation package from the AV package and told the wizard to add the Network Agent to the package it created.
Then I uninstalled the KAV on the machine, and the Network Agent, and ran the setup.exe the Admin Kit Wizard created.
Same problem: it installs the Network Agent, verified the connection to the Admin Server, then the AV install fails with OS not supported message.
It's 1AM in the morning here. I give up. That machine is one of the two that gets the most viruses in this office and it's going to be unprotected until I can get back here maybe tomorrow evening. This is just ridiculous.
Tomorrow night I'm going to rip out the entire KAV system - again - and start all over with fresh downloads of everything.
Or maybe I'll switch to Comodo.
Please use the right product for this OS!

You successfully installed on two machines prior, now this one machine is giving you a problem. Have you tried any other machines? Is it possible that this machine that gets the most viruses is still contaminated with a virus\trojan that is causing this issue with AV? It's also possible that even if the machine is clean now whatever virus\trojans it may have had has corrupted some system files or registry.

So the GSI thinks I'm trying to install the Server product? But I'm not!
But on the off chance something is screwy and somehow I did that, I will recreate the deployment package using the Wizard again and try again. But I'm pretty sure I'm not that dumb.

Well, I may or may not have been that dumb, but rebuilding the package using the wizard seems to have worked this time. KAV and the agent have installed on that machine.
Now I need to figure out why it doesn't seem to apply the imported firewall rules that are in the policy on installation...I had to import them manually on that workstation.
Well, progress...
