Full Version: safe not to scan all files?

Hi,

every now and then I have to scan an external hard disk for malware using Kaspersky AntiVirus.
Is it safe to use the option "scan programs and documents (by content)" (formerly "scan only objects that can be infected") instead of "scan all files" in order to speed up scanning or would I miss anything using that option?

Thanks for your input

Hi,

It's better to use the option to "scan programs and documents (by content)" when it's about real time scanning (File Antivirus), whereas it is advised to "scan all files" when running an on-demand scan task.
These are default settings which are also those recommended by Kaspersky Lab.
