Full Version: Unable to Update Kaspersky

For the quite sometime I have been trying to get the KIS 2009 to update, but there seems to be a problem, whenever I try to update it reaches around 15% and then stops, it continuously keeps popping the message that databases are obsolete, but does not complete the update. I tried shutting down and restarting the PC, tried pinging Kaspersky and every thing seems to be fine, but I am unable to update. Have not had any major problems besides this, but I am getting the feeling that this may be due to a virus.
Please help.

Check system date/time correct, then Settings > Update > Settings > Update source > Proxy server > uncheck proxy server > ok>ok>ok. If still no go, attach the update report.
Upper right of Kaspersky window, Reports > lower right Detailed report, drop down > My Update center, then upper right Save, save it somewhere and attach it to your next post.
If the file is too large to upload, then zip it (right click, send to > compressed zipped folder) and upload the zip.

Please attach the zipped avz_sysinfo.zip; instructions, see: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=&am...st&p=678326

Please create gsi sysinfo text, and then upload it to this parser site: http://gsi.kaspersky.fr/ and then post the link to the GSI report which may identify issue area, instructions see: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=36444 Please use the New 4.0 GSI utility. If Vista or W7, right click getsysteminfo.exe and select Run as administrator.

I am attaching the notepad file generated as a report for the KIS 2009 update status. Will upload the two other reports as soon as they get generated.

Uninstall McAfee Security Scan > reboot.

Free up 15% free disk space. Your system partition is very small, and you don't have enough room to defrag. Add some more ram.

Also there are upgrades available for your Kaspersky product, clean instructions are in the Important topics, but try without McAfee and with a larger system partition and a few defrags and some more ram, first.

Well, I uninstalled McAfee I freed up 4 GB i.e. 20% space, I rebooted & updated windows, but KIS 2009 is still not accepting the new update. Now however the update completes, it shows the update reaching 100% but Kaspersky still keeps saying that Databases are obsolete....

...Help...

Maybe not enough memory or drive space. Try watching Task Manager: Resource Monitor during the event.

Shailesh - your system date is incorrect. It is showing 1/23/2010. Correct it by double clicking the clock. This sometimes causes the problems you describe. After correcting, try updating again.

Also, you might want to clean your temp folders. ATF Cleaner is a safe tool to use for this. Get it here:
