Full Version: minimalistic GUI ?

Kaspersky is my favorite AV product, but It has one huge down side, the GUI. The current GUI has a poor ergonomy, and is a memory hog.

I don't see the point of having themes, those 3D-like buttons, sizable PNG images.. pure non-sense!! An AV product is supposed to do one job: help secure a box. and in doing so, it should be in all stealthiness, without the user even noticing it (aside from the usual configuration options).

I would love to see a version of Kaspersky with a minimalistic GUI, that has very little visual effects, very small jpg images (very few), making use of a lightweight lib (Qt, GTK+...) to render the GUI instead of bloated non-sense.

I have already migrated my work laptop to Nod32 because of the current GUI, I'm thinking of migrating the rest of my box's to it, only because of Kaspersky's bloated GUI.

I have to agree with Simo. Last years version of Kaspersky was far better than the 2009. Now I feel like I'm just might as well be using Norton, with how I now have to have all these windows open just to do an update. Kaspersky should not have messed with a good thing. I know feel annoyed with using it since it no longer runs quietly in the background like it used to.

Ok, a few posts removed. The suggestion is made and there is no need for rudeness or endless rhetoric.
