Running Kaspersky Administration Kit 8.0.2048 on Windows Server 2000 SP4, using a SQL Server Express 2008 SP1 database on a different server which is running Windows Server 2003 R2. The Windows Server 2003 machine with SQL server has 4GB of RAM, the Windows 2000 system with Admin Kit has 2GB of RAM.

As soon as I start the Admin Kit service the average disk queue length on the SQL box goes from 1 to 275 and the SQL server becomes unresponsive; CPU utilization stays around 2%. Pages/second on both machines and the disk queue length on the admin kit machine all stay low. The administration kit server handles 160 client computers.

Am I missing something here, or do I simply need a faster disk? Not sure why the administration kit would put such a burden on disk I/O on the SQL server...

How many clients / groups / tasks / policies are managed with that administration kit?

1 group, 160 clients, 4 policies (two for workstations, 1 for servers, 1 for net agent), weekly virus scan task + daily update task (3:00AM) + daily admin kit update task (12:00AM)

Not much in my mind, I've hardly changed anything from it's defaults.
