I see there are two anti-virus applications installed on the server:

kasperksy Anti-Virus 5.5 for Micorosft Exchange Server 2000/2003
Version 5.5.789.0

Kasperksy Anti-virus 6.0 for Windows Servers
Version 6.0.3.837
Helmut
The actual version for Exchange 2000/2003 is 5.5.1185.

Is the Exchange database excluded by the real time scanner?

After check that Helmut said, verify the update settings because that process may increase if downloads of updates are each hour. So, you must change Update settings, set downloads for example once per day or each 12 hours...

Exchange database are excluded, and the downloads of updates happens every day at 00.00. These setting are normally on all servers we deploy.
