Ok, last question(s) for today (maybe)....

After beginning the update process (to MP4) on some machines, I have noticed that, when I open the KAV console on an updated client, a user would still have the ability to manually start an update or scan process. After going through the many, many options in the admin kit, there doesn't appear to be a way to disable this in the same manner that one would disable other options (and by "disable", I mean preventing a user from initiating this themselves). I know some options are available, but can be password protected (which would be fine), but I don't think this can be done for updating or scanning. I may be wrong on this, so if I am, could someone please correct me??

And speaking of scanning, the default scan option seems to be the Full Scan task on the Tasks tab in the Properties of each host listed in the Admin Kit. It also seems as though the settings from this task are the settings which are propagated down to the client. I have created a Scan Task in the Group Tasks folder for this group, but the File Scan task in the properties of the client still override this task. I don't want to have to configure scan properties for each individual host, so what am I doing wrong, if anything. Also, the Remove button is grayed out on the Tasks tab for each host, so I can't seem to remove any of those tasks that I don't want in there. It seems as though a little bit of an Admins control has been taken away with the new version (MP4).

Also, I've noticed that the update from MP3 to MP4 requires the definitions database to be updated before AV protection will kick in. Is there a way to initiate the updater immediately when the client install completes? I know it will run eventually, but I'd like it to be immediate, if possible. Not sure if this is possible, and I will continue to search for the answer, but if someone knows, could you fill me in.

Thanks in advance.........again.............

You can create a setup.ini.

Look into the manual page 25.

You can create a setup.ini.

Look into the manual page 25.

but at the end of this KB you can see that TASK section is not available for MP4....need to clarify/check....smile.gif
