Hello,

I got a question regarding the new MP4 client available for Windows servers with Citrix/TSE roles.

Does the new MP4 client replace both File Server 6.0 MP3 and File Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 MP2, or only the first one (which means i have to install the odl client on Citrix/TSE servers) ?

Thanks for your assistance.

Sincerely,
JBAB
I have installed the Kaspersky for FileServer MP4 on a Windows 2008 32bit Terminalserver.

What i can see is, that (and that on all my servers (win2k3 32/64bit win2k8 32/64bit) the avp.exe stays even when the user is completely unloaded. So on a TerminalServer i have 23 avp.exe Processes with 0 people logged in for example....

I go back to the KAV Enterprise Edition at least for TerminalServers. Even when the RAM consume fewer is at the moment.

For Citrix / Microsoft Terminserver, you still need Kaspersky Anti-Virus für Windows Server Enterprise Edition

Ok but also on the normal fileservers you have avp.exe with a user who is definitely not logged in.

It replaces only the first one, but KAV WSEE (the product designed to protect TSE/Citrix server) is not an old product it's just a different one. A new version should be available next year.

How many tasks avp.exe are running on this server?

I have on one server 10 avp.exe:

3 avp.exe started by SYSTEM
4 avp.exe started by User1 (currently logged in)
3 avp.exe started by User2 (not logged in)

Thanks for your response.

Could you please precise a few more points :

- By checking Compatibility properties it seems no Kaspersky client supports TSE (well call them RDS now) 2008 R2 yet. Could you confirm this ?

- You mention Enterprise Edition MP4 wont be available until 1 year. As a sysadmin this kind of information is crucial when planning antivirus deployment, however i couldnt find a roadmap for KAV products for small/medium business. Is this information only accessible for developpers/gold beta testers ?

Just for information:

After many mails with the Kaspersky Support they say its a bug and the workaround at the moment is to set the svchost.exe as trusted application with "allow interaction with interface". After that all user related avp.exe disappear when a user logged off.

I have spoken to the Kaspersky Team extensively on this point and their (unpublished) plan is to have the new Enterprise version that will support TS/RDS on 2008-R2 out by March of 2010.
